    In reality? two weeks.
It's only been around 5 week total in production.

Also you may see this project featured on some other websites soon.

Zap is the man, answers questions when people ask, and does so in a matter of fact way.

    GO ZAP GO ZAP

i got to say i am just blown away by this LAN box.

    ZAP GOT MAD SKILLZ

BTW I was not pissed at K, it's just funny to me.

    Also:
For about a week there has been a huge stack of computers near the front of my building (About 150)
This morning I found out they are all the QuakeCon tourney stations!
Alas, though, they are just boring white boxes.
(And no I can't hack one for you)

As far as the LAN PC is going right now:

The Markers I used for the glow effect are not drying very well, so I will have to go back and clean this off, and try a UV nail polish.

The graphics card will be here Thursday the 7th.

hey zap Iw as wondering how you wired the power reset and eject buttons, you metioned that you used shut off the "ground" signal with the key, but how did you then wire the ground signal to? I hope you cna under stand my jibberish

    Welcome to the forums.
Nearly all PC switches are ACTIVE LOW
Meaning the signal wire has to be connected to ground for the switch to activate.

So what I did was to use the keyswitch as a switch between low and high. I used a 10k pull-up to keep the switches high when the key is locked.

You can see the pull-up resistor here:
    http://www.zapwizard.com/lanpc/Electronics/Fan-Control.jpg

And the common switched-ground on the switches here:
    http://www.zapwizard.com/LANPC/Electronics/VFD-Switches.jpg
    http://www.zapwizard.com/lanpc/Electronics/Back1.jpg

    It's wired like this:
    Motherboard----Button-----Keylock----GND

When the key is locked, the button is no longer connected to ground, disabling the switchs.

The relay is wired to the keyswitch a little differently.
I used a PNP transistor that is active low, and it is also wired to the common switched-ground.

I am almost entirely eletronically illeritate, btu I have the smae pwer ect. switches that you do, so if I connectedthe ground to a ground from the psu would that work, or would it be have to be a ground form the mobo? I assume you mena tyhe ground form the psu beceause that what the CD and mobo run off of, but I just wante dto make shure that I am not goign to blow up my motherboard.

    P.s. I posted this at www.gruntville.com here's the link: http://www.gruntville.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3339

raxxo it was removed as it has nothing to do with this project.
    (or computers at all)
It was also posted on the forums already.
Most people don't like links to other projects linked from their own project.

    Just a tiny update:

I just finished sleeving the cables on the PSU
(It takes forever to remove each pin with just a tiny screwdriver)

I just tilt the connectors lengthwise, then cram the stuff over them.

    (I'm lazy. Shoot me. :D )

    Well it's confirmed.
I am going to QuakeCon from Thursday through Saturday.
I hope to get a lot of coverage on the project, and then of course WIN the nVidia Modding contest.

Ahhhh we have been found!!! :worried:
K is a quirky guy eh?
I must say I have watched you whammo and HTPC projects for some time and I am glad central Texas has at least one good modder, because it surely isn't going to be me. I thought all of us Texans were suppose to be gun totting cowboys. O btw am a Round Rock modder.
    ....

Any way, back to the project....
As far as the projection of something on the ceiling, why not mod it onto or in the monitor. Then again that’s an LCD screen, right? So, maybe the main carrying case (the night vision goggle case).

I did post that I am putting the LCD into the night vision case, and the projector also.

BTW Bit-tech has tons of Texans on the forums
If you want to see the PC in person I will have it at the www.AMDZone.com August 30th LAN Party (Here in Austin)

I'm over in East Texas myself...

I've been following this thread since the start, and absolutly love what you have created Zap. I plan on being at QuakeCon on the 16th, can't wait to see this beauty in person!
