    Hi guys,

    Think it's about time I upgraded my system, still rocking a D0 i7 920 with a GTX295!

Looking at the following, if anyone has any changes they would recommend it would be a great help!

    Case : Corsair 250D
Mobo : Asus Z97 Maximus VII Impact
    Processor : Intel Core i7 4790K
Ram : Corsair Memory Vengeance Pro Series Red 16GB DDR3 2400 MHz Dual Channel
GPU : Some sort of 980ti
    PSU : Corsair HX750i

Already got a large ssd and storage drive in my current system.

Anyone got any changes they would make?

    Thanks

    Tom.

your PSU is very overkill and you will never need that power on a mini ITX build. You will struggle to get good efficiency.

Look at something more like 600w

Other than that, looks good! that case was made for a corsair h100 to be used, be a shame not to with that chip and case.

The Asus Z97 Maximus VII Impact has a daughter board that might spoil against a H100. Need to do a little research on the measurements before buying an AIO cooler.

Thanks for the reply about the psu! Will look at getting something nearer 600w.

I'll just be using the OE heatsink for the time being, then look to go custom loop next month!

That rig is pretty much identical to mine, bar the PSU and the GPU.

The Impact can fit in the 250D with a slim 240mm and two fans, it's tight, but it does fit.

I'll upload some pictures for you when I am home tomorrow if you wish. :)

The 250D was designed for the H100i in terms of size.

Also I think the Dominator ram with its silver heat spreader really look a lot better than the red Vengeance RAM, but it all depends on how important aesthetics are to you and your preference.

With GFX cards, be careful of and Asus Direct CU2 coolers, they don't fit (or at least they will probably melt the window).

They're also a lot more expensive, and the RAM chips inside them is average at best unless you spend mega money on the higher end kits. I have the TridentX's because they're black and red. Well, you'll see in a few hours.

There's no window on the side, it is mesh to allow for maximum fresh air to get to your GPU. I've yet to burn a hole in mine with a 7970 which is the same card under the cooler. :D

I reckon it will fit. I'll grab the DCU II out of a friends rig and see what's what if need be.

    There you go.

The best thing about the two fans being above the motherboard like that is that it keeps the VRM extremely cool. Trust me, without them like that, they get hot very, very quickly.

Great spec, other than that PSU - which is massively over specced. A 600W is more than enough.

There is a window on the top though where the heat pipes of the DC2 design stick out. A number of reviewers have mentioned this problem.

And like I said about the memory, it depends on your bias towards certain aesthetics more than anything else.

I am looking forward to seeing your system too.
