Has anyone else seen this with a Nokia? The phone just says "CONTACT SERVICE". It wont turn off except by taking the battery out, and i've tried it with and without a sim card. As soon as I turn it on I get the above message! Funny thing is it was working fine a few hours ago!
That's what I thought! I did have a quick hunt around on google and it seems the firmware has somehow got corrupted. The weird thing is though I havent been trying to unlock it or any thing like that that might kill it.
I was wondering about that. The phone is out or warranty, so what have I got to loose? Do you have any instructions on how to flash it? I've got a cable.
Feel sorry for you dude, hope you get it sorted; i'd hate that to happen to me... /me prays to the mighty Bob (Mostly Harmless by D. Adams) that it doesn't happen...
Well I can get the phone re-flashed by a Nokia Repair Centre for £23.50!! That seems quite a bit for what probably wont take more than about 2 minutes. But I guess if i want to get it fixed... And it's still cheaper than buying a new phone.
Nope, the liquid crystal has seeped out enough to cover half the screen and to stop the other half from showing anything. I need a new phone
I finally got my phone fixed! I bought some flashing cables of eBay for about £5, downlaoded some software and re-flashed my phone. If anyone is interested, I have written at guide on how I fixed it: http://www.uk-dave.com/tutorials/misc/phone-flashing.shtml
Damn, if I had seen this thread earlier, I would have helped out. Yea, you can just buy a cable and flash your phone. Nokai and those dodgy people at markets that will "do you a favour" abd flash your phone or unlock it for a fiver must be making money hand over fist. Buy yourself a cable off ebay, people. Well done UK_Dave Glad it worked for you
