    Impressive idea and mod! I like how you used the electrical components and how you have them repaired and enhanced. Clean job too!

    Just a little bit more photos of previously not shown details before the final photo shoot.

    The front panel without the frame while fitting.

    You also can see how luckily existing apertures came in handy for the cables.

    In the upper part of the chassis such apertures are covered with steel plates. The front panel will be screwed to them.

    [IMG]

    Arter the mounting the frame will be "locked".

    Fan connectors:

    The panel is fully assembled now.

    Finally this day has come. Honestly, I'm a little worried because I already showed you my casemod in almost finished condition, so perhaps you won't see anything new and interesting on the final photos. But I'll try to avoid this with the little cheat. I photographed my “Felix” not individually but together with suitable peripheral devices, because that's the way I'm going to use it. These are the old soviet microphone that I repaired and modified for modern use and the keyboard, which I ordered a year ago from famous Datamancer (USA) especially for this project. I hope it's a pleasant surprise.

    Let me repeat some details for those who have not read the whole thread. This PC is dedicated to Soviet electronics of 1940s–60s. I attempted to imagine how Soviet personal computers could look like if they were built in 50s instead of late 80s.

    Original “Felix” was a very famous and widespread mechanical calculator produced in the USSR from 20s to late 70s. So my case mod is its imaginary “younger brother” which uses electricity instead of mechanics for computing.

    All the gauges and switches are in use. You can monitor:

    – CPU, GPU and RAM load and HDD activity;
    – Voltages;
    – Fan speeds;
    – Temperatures;
    – User-selectable parameters from AIDA.

    [IMG]

    With switches and knobs you can:

    – Choose what will be shown on gauges;
    – Control fan speeds;
    – Change sound volume;
    – Turn on the lighting;
    – Supply peripheral devices;
    – Get tactile pleasure, eventually.

    Thank you for your interest, advices and words of encouragement.

    The only thing i can think of, you could add, was temp and pressure gauges for water cooling - which ofcourse would go against the idea and integrity of the project...
    You have got everything else covered, and together with your peripherals, it's looking really good! :clap:
    That microphone is perfect for this build :thumb:

    But i am wondering, what mouse you will be using?

    Gentlemen, I think I have to excuse for inconvenience. I'm a damned slowpoke, but I just found out that Richard Nagy known as Datamancer, creator of my keyboard and amazingly talented artist, had passed away a year and a half ago. I am shocked and saddened. It looks like if he died literally after a couple of weeks after shipping me this keyboard. Maybe it is the one of his latest works.

    If I knew it, of course, I would dedicate my casemod to his memory. Maybe it's still not too late.

    Sad news, really sad news. I remember reading an article about the Datamancer that lead me to draw lots of sketches.

    Maybe you could have an hidden touch, dedicated to him. A memorial plate riveted somewhere inside the case

    Simply stunning work and such a touching twist with the story of Datamancer.
