It's something I've never wanted to risk as quite frankly I would rather not bust my CPU, however I stumbled across this video the other day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6qeeHmyilc The designer has made the 3d print file available for download and I've had a customer of mine knock one up for me. Now I don't really have any cpu's I want to try it on so I'm looking for a bit-techer to try it out for me, somebody experienced in de lidding or somebody that feels confident enough to have a go ideally, I will send you the tool free of charge all I ask is you post before/after results and give me some feedback on the tool, you can keep the tool . Anybody interested? Please note I take no responsibility if you kill your chip delidding it so please make sure you are confident enough to do it.
I heard 3D printing wasn't strong enough to cope with the forces. I'd love to try it but I am leaving the country for two months on Saturday. Bummer.
This design looks like it works, the youtube video got my interest sparked ! It could well be a flop, but it's worth trying i think.
I did not expect that to produce such a loud noise. Awesome!! I wouldn't mind giving it a try, but I'm away.
I have a G1610t that I wouldn't mind sacrificing to science if you just want a test run before anyone does a "real" CPU Actually if that goes well I might even put my pair of xeons through the gauntlet! In short, I'm game if you are
I saw that, but billet aluminium can you imagine how much they will sell it for? Similar idea just without a vice and 10000000000000000000000000 dollars.
