Build Advice what ram do i need for skylake cpu and motherboard?

hi all im going to be building a mid range gaming pc for my brother and was wondering what ram i will need for this motherboard http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-trooper-h110-d3-intel-h110-s-1151-ddr3-ddr3l-sata3-6gbps-realtek-gigabit-lan-usb-30-atx and this cpu http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i5-6400-s-1151-skylake-quad-core-27ghz-33ghz-turbo-6mb-cache-950mhz-gpu-27x-ratio ? will ddr 3 work or do i need ddr3L RAM?

Personally I'd go DDR3L since you're buying new. DDR3 will technically work but Skylake isn't really designed for it.

Spend a little more and get a DDR4 board. What's the point in buying into a dead RAM generation?

 

Aye, don't see much point in buying a DDR3L board and RAM. Only reason to get a DDR3L Skylake board would be if you already had the RAM lying around and wanted to reuse it. If you're buying new, you'd be as well to get a DDR4 board.
