So, since I've kinda lost the will to do regular space marine stuff, I started faffing around with making a Space Marine costume. Turns out the best one is scaled for someone shorter than me, so.. Chances are I won't need stilts. Ha.
I think you're going to be better off freezing yourself, and waiting for the actual emperor of mankind to show up..
Well, even with the new specialist design team having been set up, it's going to be a while before we see any of the Specialist Games being released, and I stumbled across Dropfleet Commander a few weeks ago from Hawk Games. I put in a pledge on their Kickstarter, Andy Chambers (who designed Battlefleet Gothic) is one of the lead developers on the team. After spending the bones of €500 on new SSD's last month, I was meant to pull my pledge last night, but due to the severe weather we had here, I couldn't connect to the webpage, or any for that matter, to get that done. So now I'm €220 poorer, but I have some freaking gorgeous spaceship models coming next year Hotlinking obviously doesn't work, so here's a link to the Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hawkwargames/dropfleet-commander/description
I've decided that seeing as rumours of Necromunda coming back are abounding, that I'd create a mobile mechanic component of an adeptus arbites force. I've been using mantic enforcers as arbites. I was and still am planning on 3 bikes as a fast response force (no attack bikes) using enforcers again rather then scouts and certainly not the pathfinders that mantic produce nothing wrong with mantic but why would you put your scouts on a motorised unicycle? Yes to this No! just NO! to this Then a snatch vehicle based on the JGSDF LAV and then a Repressor based on either the STUG III AUSF A Or the M2A2 Bradley Or the GTK Boxer. I know the Repressor is meant to be a rhino variant but I wanted something that looked a little different. (all the images are stock images from the net. I'm not able to take pictures right now of my enforcers) then I went l;ooking for the models and I know its been a few years since I brought any vehicle models but the price has sky rocketed almost had a heart attack I remember when you could buy a rhino, a ten man tactical squad and a 5 man scout squad for £20.00 now days even on eBay the rhino DOORS would cost you £7.00+ by themselves. Count me as horrified. So if anyone knows where to buy vehicle models and/or vehicle model parts cheap a heads up would be HUGELY appreciated not just by me but by my arbites who are getting fed up of having to walk everywhere. p.s. sorry for being pic heavy
Corax painted is quite a sight, also cool to see the first few blood bowl miniatures- plastic set with humans and orks.
Finally got something finished off, it's been a while... Well, almost finished, need to do a bit of eye work and there are a couple of other bits that I've spotted too, but almost there.
"cautious optimism", I know just what you mean. I'd love to get my hands on some of the specialist stuff again and am looking forward to them. However, I can't get over the feeling that they are going to be a bit limited. Take Blood Bowl for example, a boxed game with pitch, cards, counters, and two teams. Fair enough, but what about all the other teams and races? Sure, there are still plenty kicking about, I still have my undead guys and my Wood Elves, but it's probably just going to be orcs and humans this time around and that's it, a one time release and no expansion support. Necromunda, again a boxed game with scenery, dice, counters, and 2 gangs. Perfectly able to be played but unless there are other gang releases, more than a bit limited.
I've either done something monumentally stupid, or drugs lead me to a brilliant idea; So, the stormblade I made ages ago and sold I always regretted selling. So while I'm chairbound in recovery, I bought myself another one and set about making the same electronics etc. But while sat there taking many many pills, I had an idea! The flickering LED's used in my melta cannon are quite bright, so I thought. Hollow out the exhausts, and re-fill with clear resin. Chopped the bottoms off, ran a drill down the holes at the top, attacked the bends with a dremel, and dug some channels in the back plate. Filled with clear resin, and when that cured I started drilling out the exhaust holes. I don't have the flickering LED's yet, and this is a wide angle LED so not hugely bright (It's blinding but I tested it with a car LED bulb), but it shows the concept well enough!
Remember the old phrase, if its stupid but it works... either way i would love a couple of Stormblades, its a real shame GW didnt include the parts in the Shadowsword kid, ( although i heard that FW wanted to keep at least one variant exclusive to them ) that said im abit of a Treadhead when it comes to Imperial Guard, and i had the money i would run a full Tank Company and a Titan Maniple
Well. The Banehammer style variant is very similar (Or could be modded to be as such) to the Stormblade, so if you happen across some of those I can do you a clone of the main gun and you can set about making your own?
There's no proof it works yet! I hope Jen gets the flickering LED's out to me with her usual expedience though, I'm itching to find out ASAP. Also, fresh out of the mould;
If clear resin wasn't such a pain to work with without a pressure chamber to make the mould/cast id be doing clear versions of all the stealth models gw sell! Or at least part clear, I love the idea of something coming out of/going into stealth as a model.
