Hi all just got myself a new 980 and asus 4k monitor.

Connected it via the display port and it boots and get to the win10 loading screen then goes blank does the same with HDMI too.

I've managed to get on the desktop via system restore for about 30 seconds after logging into windows before it goes blank again .

No idea what to do as I can even install the nvidia drivers for it.

Sounds like driver issues. Can you boot in safe mode??

If you can, remove all previous driver traces from within safe mode and then restart, and boot into normal Windows. See what happens. :)

Are you using a displayport 1.3 cable?

There's no drivers installed... Not tried safe mode.but can only into the desktop if I take the GPU out and use the onboard graphics.

Not sure about the cable its a mini dp to do one from maplin. But I have the same issue with an HDMI cable

Can boot into safe mode no problem... Used display driver uninstaller and rebooted... Still the same

Boot into BIOS and disable igpu and/or set GPU priority to PCI-E. Also make sure the BIOS has not got multi monitor (lucid virtu) enabled. (Sorry can't see you MB model so a little vague)

Boot into safe mode and uninstall the Intel driver as well.

Reboot hopefully this should see the 980 as the primary and go from there.

That's good news, hdmi won't display 4k unless the ports are all hdmi 2.0 and I don't think the 980 is

Is it windows 10? sometimes it presumes you are using the IGP whether it is actually anabled or not.

I only found this happened after the initial install after that I had no problems.
