Hmmm, A lenovo laptop it is then!

Totally agree, the consultants saunter about their rounds like some roman emperor visiting the sick. Usually before arranging a round of golf. Least thats my experience with them from when I had a Enterectomy (bowel resection)

Acht, we've all had them I suppose. For me it was Pilots when I served my time.

Techs did all the hard work and got the jets in the air, the Pilots just took all the credit, even if they ejected... No thanks for the boys and girls that made sure the seat worked.

Still, I can't wait to get this f-ing disc removed..

We had that last year. It turned out the radiator was plumbed in BACKWARDS, so the valve was trying to limit outflow when it was designed to limit inflow. Thermostatic valves tend not to like that sort of thing! :dremel:

Macs. El Capitan. Pointless use of one Mac in an otherwise Windows environment to sate one persons inability to use Windows.

    ****ing computers.

Sounds like your problem is less the computer than the idiot user.

Quickly looking back over my bank records seems to show I managed to spend something in the region of 7k in my final year, if not more, using up all of my savings from placement year.

Went from being sensible at uni, to being sensible on placement, to suddenly losing it final year it seems.
Definitely need to get back on writing everything down so I can keep on top of it this year!

Wife appears to have decided I'm not part of her life any more. Thinking of going back to Yorkshire.

Ordinarily, I'd agree. It's the migration from Snow Leopard to El Capitan (Honestly, I feel a right twunt saying that name out loud, who okayed that for release?). It sat there for nearly 18 hours before I quit it, restarted the new box, and it'd done most of it.

I'd even done the migration without applications, as advised by an 11 page thread on Apple's forums. Ah well. It's done now.

Oh no. That's really sad. It happened to me last year and I've just got my life back together. I owe you an e-mail, I know - but if you need anything, drop me a message.

    Rubbish, isn't it.

I've about decided that being with my GF is literally worse than being alone.

Might I suggest a visit to motherless.com? Cheers me up quite rapidly- being single is underrated.

Why society pressures people into relationships and tries to insist that unless you are married & have kids by your 40th then you're a failure, I have no idea...

Are these sentences two separate entries in the thread, or just one? I've not been to Yorkshire for many years but appreciate its very far north so must be pretty shitty.

Relationships are the bedrock of a society. Societies need them. So many of life's absurdities exist because relationships condition us to make compromises for the sake of conformity. And once you've made those compromises, the last thing you wanna see is people enjoying the benefits of life without compromises, so you gang up with all your other compromisers against the freeriders. Compromisers are easier to herd, easier to market to, etc. That's why. IMO.

After posting about the birth of my second daughter in the Awesome thread, I'm in 'ere to say that wife and daughter have been admitted back to hospital 'cos she wasn't feeding and was getting dangerously underweight. Good news: it looks like it was a tongue-tie, now treated, and they should come home on Sunday or Monday. Bad news: the reason I'm here at oh-dark-hundred is that I'm I/C of Daughter #1, so I couldn't even *start* work properly until about half seven tonight. Couple that with the fact nobody's been sleeping this week due to an (understandably) angry baby and (understandably) stressed mother, and I'm absolutely cream crackered - and Daughter #1 will doubtless wake me up in about five and a bit hours...

Sorry to hear that Gareth, seems everyone with kids is going through the mill right now.

What's that terrible smell in here all of a sudden?

Oh wait, we played this game before- how does it go again...

    1. I make a comment about a specific woman ( former step mother for example ) or group of women ( men-hating 'feminists', or house wives who won't let their partners spend their own money without permission- that's a group of women who many members here and on other hobby forums have to deal with. Not all women are like that, never said they were, but like I said- context ).

    2. You take it out of context and accuse me of being anti-woman, and call me a misogynist and sexist.

    3. I respond by saying you are talking out of your backside, which you are as it happens- context is indeed everything. Above, I said absolutely nothing about women at all, I said being single was under rated and suggested watching some porn, nothing more. I also made a very true and honest statement about the pressures people experience if they don't conform to the social norm of relationship > marriage > kids.

    4. You throw a temper tantrum and ban me because you can't deal with having your 'authority' challenged when I point out that your comments are unwarranted and you are singling me out for daring to have a negative opinion on a subject. You act like an SJW and feminist supporter who doesn't give a monkey's uncle if anyone insults other groups of people, or men ( hypocrisy Cheesecake ), but the moment someone says something you don't like due to your own personal bias and lack of objectivity, you go besserk and onto a power-trip.

I decided to take some time off before to see if things would calm down, but it's become painfully apparent that in the ~6 months I was away, there has been a serious increase in the number of little-hitlers and SJWs who have too much of a opinion on what other people can say and think. I'd do a Nexxo if I were you, give up your moderator powers because you clearly can't remain objective any more if you start making snarky comments constantly and have a clear vendetta against anyone who doesn't share your opinion. That's no way to run a forum.

Thanks for the sympathy, but I'm not going to overlook your antagonistic, misogynistic, combatative attitude nor your attacks on other forum users and apparent disregard for the rules. You don't like the forum and its members? Easily fixed: you're banned.

Hope wife and sprog make a speedy recovery, and that your stint as designated 'responsible adult' doesn't leave you too sleep deprived.

Sorry to hear this, Gareth. Hopefully you'll have them back home ASAP and get settled into a nice routine. As for being tired - unfortunately, the only less-than-amazing thing about going from one child to two is that it reduces your chances of sleep even further :)
