I have just had an epiphany... it's an idea for a VERY cool computer case (not quite up to the G-gnome one but good nonetheless)

    I will involve someone who
    i) has access to a lot of tools
    ii) is good with plexi
iii) wants to build a new pc
    iv) is looking for inspiration

I count myself out on the first 3 counts but have had a great idea... Don't really want to broadcast it but would love to give someone a nudge in the right direction :D

    so... anyone interested... curious?....

    :dremel:

when I get home tonight I'll try and write something up.

I promise you it's very cool... it just needs someone to not muppet it up (like I would)

come on Japala you know you want to...

Avatar from Day of the Tentacle.... it might even be abandonware now (i.e. you can download for free) but worth checking you aren't doing anything illegal first.

DOTT was the funniest (imo) point and click adventure ever... the pinnacle of Lucasarts.

it was the sequel to maniac mansion which I never played.

    OK here's the scoop...

The idea is to have a hand holding a crystal ball...

I had originally intended it to be something like Thing (addams family) holding it aloft and then the wrist could be the mount but the best piccy I could find is this (sorry for external link ... my bad)
    or [IMG]

So the difficult bits are this...
    1) get a plexi Sphere...
    2) get a mofo to fit it (shuttle?).. a big board would mean a big sphere... not good
    3) find somewhere to mount the HDD and DvDs (maybe in the base
    4) cooling... watercooling?

I think the really hard bit would be #1 but thinking about the end design with the motherboard in the sphere and the rest of the gubbins in the base I think would be awesome...

Anyway like I say.. I'm crap at plexy work and don't have the attention to detail to do it well... but most important... I don't need a new box... or rather my life's not worth me getting a new one... her indoors would kill me :nono:

    So what do you reckon???

Finding somthing purely spherical could be difficult, but if the base of the ball is mouted to the hand. there may be acryllic 'fish bowls' out there thayt you can use. The problem here comes back to the motherboard problem.
It'd be cool if you could have a sphere inside a sphere with a small gap between them and then pump water into that gap for a cascade effect, but getting them into each other will probally be impossible.
