I've done it! I joined the mechanical keyboard club today
K65 courtesy of Hamfunk on the MP has just arrived, and I love it - TLK is the business.

How long before I am looking for new keycaps, then another keyboard????

Although i love my ducky zero, is there any full size mech kbs out there that have the same clean asthetic, the four function buttons (mute, vol dwn, vol up, calc) and full per key rgb? or is that too much of an ask?

NVM, Ducky Shine 5 RGB, and a second Ducky Zero ordered :S

My current Ducky Zero and the new one will go to work to replace the Quickfire TKs, and the Shine 5 for home :)
Will probably be listing the Quickfire TKs once I have the new KBs.

    8th board acquired :)

Got a new Func 460 for £36 although as it transpired it wasn't fully new as the space bar had been removed and refitted upside down for some reason plus the seller then informed me after I complained that he had also removed the wasd keys and used them on another board.

First board with reds and I quite like them for gaming.

I prefer the sound of blues if I'm total honest, think I'm going to run dual boards and keep my cheapo Kkmoon hooked up for typing and switch as needed.

Hey all, I'm thinking of getting my first mechanical keyboard. I am a bit apprehensive over the noise they make though. I'm looking at Cherry browns atm.

I have found tester boards on Amazon but trying an actual keyboard would be better. Does anyone know of any shops in East/West sussex that have modern (ie K70s etc) on display?.

    Any help would be great.

Tbh, I didn't find Brown's *that* much louder than the membrane keyboard I had before.. Mind you, the caps would tap on the base of the unit. (old g15 that was giving up on me!)

Does anyone know of a keyboard that fulfils all of the following:

    1) Browns
    2) UK Layout
    3) Decent stock keycaps (i.e. not a Filco - preferably something with thick caps)
    4) 'Normal' looking (no LEDs, no g4m3r looks)
    5) Full size but not HUGE
    6) Cheaper than a RF

    Cheers

Probably a DAS Ultimate, but not sure about (6) on that. I seem to recall it is though.

Hmm - worth a look, cheers mate. Do the DAS boards have decent caps on?

Yeah they're nice - I've got an Ultimate 2 covered in blues, on which the stock caps are decent. Not earth-shattering, but decent! Better than Filco stock caps etc.

    It's Costar stabs though - if that's a dealbreaker?

No - I happen to quite like costar stabs. Basically I'm looking for a work board that's smaller than my current solution which is a Cherry G80-3000 I've modded to have browns. The other alternative would be to have a Filco / Ducky and replace the keycaps with something nicer but something that's nice and thick but not ott in terms of colours etc isn't easy to come by.

I was going to suggest a Quickfire XT, but I'm forgetting they're EOL now. But at the time I got mine they were seriously cheap, like £60. Granted, you'd have to get good caps for them, but still probably within your price bracket. I'm not up-to-date with CoolerMaster's current keyboard offerings but the XT was a fantastic board.

Not a bad suggestion but you're right about the caps - bleugh... As for the DAS - I forgot to add that it can't have blank caps :(

It doesn't - mine has printed caps (which I never use haha). It's:

    ...and it's on sale.

These are coming up on lightning deals tomorrow with a discount somewhere between 10% and 24%, so around £12.15 to £14.39:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019YS164W

What do you guys think? I've seen the name before on the Chinese imports that look to be the same as other cheap brands like KKMoon, just different badges.

The listing claims they're metal, and they're double shot, so possibly worth a punt?

They're not for me as they're US layout and little things like that would bug me, but I thought some of you might be interested.

Hmmm interesting. I wonder how resilient those printed caps are. The stock Filco printed ones are notoriously awful...

Metal doubleshot? What? Looking at the pictures they're blatantly cheap, thin plastic. I wouldn't bother personally.

Yeah that's what I thought too but both descriptions clearly state they're metal. If anyone does pick some up I'd be curious to see what turns up.

    "What you get:
    1 x 104 keycaps
    1 x Colorful box"

    Gotta love that colourful box!
