Hardware Four new X99 boards announced by Asus for Broadwell-E

    I don't see any hardware reason to ditch my X99 Pro. Indeed, gaming performance of Broadwell-E is likely to be lower than Skylake, and comparable to Haswell-E.

    An IHS chopped Skylake i7 would be what I choose right now, but I'll wait for reviews.

    Pretty much the only new thing is U.2 and for some the USB 3.1 type C connector.

    Yea they used to have it and now suddenly they don't!?

    The software usually gets an upgrade, which is often a big jump in 2 years. ASUS Skylake boards had fan control for AIO coolers. There will likely be some PCB optimizations for faster DDR4 or Broadwell-E. Possibly changes to the VRM design as well.

    Oh, i noticed they didn't fix the biggest issue i had with X99 Deluxe - the damn vertical M.2 slot. That one is so, so stupid. ASUS should expect people to use Noctua NH-D15 or other such big coolers on these boards. And what happens when you put an NH-D15 on this board and use that vertical M.2 slot next to the RAM slots ? Yup, it makes horrible turbulence noises, because the metal holder is ~1-2mm from the fan.
