I noticed my computer was a lot quieter than usual when I powered it on last night and turns out that none of my fans (apart from the CPU fan) are working.

I'm not sure if this is related to the problem, but over the past few weeks when I've put my computer on sleep, it's been waking up minutes later - even though it's never happened before, the sleep mode settings are all normal and have never been changed. None of my peripherals seem to be the culprits. Could it be related?

I've been reading it could be a faulty PSU? My PSU is a Be quiet! Pure Power 630W - around 2 years old.

:( perfect timing when the new Witcher DLC is out tomorrow

I assume your using the 3/4 pin connectors on your motherboard? If so check in your BIOS and try modifying the case fan settings.

Also try completely powering off the system for a few minutes (unplug), but be warned that if it is a PSU issue, that could completely kill it.

I can change the settings in the BIOS. Does that rule out the motherboard?

    No, unfortunately not.

The next step is to see if you have a 3-pin to molex fan adapter and test each fan and see if they work. You can do it while the system is on, just disconnect all the fans and power them one at a time via a molex connector. If they all work, then it's probably the motherboard.

If all fans have stopped at the exact same time, it isn't the fans to blame. It'll be whatever is powering them.

There are two 12v rails on the PSU. How many fans are you using and are you using a splitter?

    3 x 120mm fans.

There's a fan controller at the front and that just feeds straight into the PSU via a molex, with 3 x 3 pin outputs for the fans, my case is a Fractal R3. Sorry I hope that answers your question

Have you delved in and checked the connections, especially where your PSU connects to the fan controller?

If you have and all sees fine then try a different connector (molex I assume) from the PSU.

While you're there, you can test the connector you're using if you have a fan somewhere with a molex connector.

If the single fan works OK on that connector then either the fan controller wasn't connected properly or the fan controller's dead.

Turns out it was a loose wire! My missus moved my computer the other day and the front panel came off and obviously pulled the fan controller wire out! :p

Thanks for the help guys ;)
