i'm with cheebs on this one. I dont think the big handle would really suit all that well and you should leave it out to keep the sleek look.
Comon Pug If your son is called Harley then you have to use that handle for him. It just makes too much sence . You know its true!! In all seriousness i think that handle could look v good (chokes me to say it! ) in the right circumstances. If you are thinking of doing a harley theamed case then think how well this would finish it off. It is plain to see from your projects that you take a great deal of time thinking about every aspect. Its also plain to see that you like this handle also (and probably want to use it because you like it). I just think that it would make a larger impact in a harley theamed project than in hex.
Yeah, I was kinda coming to that conclusion on the handle. *nods* Trouble is he and his sister currently share a machine, if I build him one, I'll have to do another for her too... easy birthday prezzies though! Cheers for the reassurance everyone, I think it's on the right track. Wolfe - I'm avoiding the lighting angle for now. I've always been partial to UV or bl00 but as many NF7-S users know, there's a pair of really bright LEDs on the board that play havoc with that kind of interior lighting scheme. I'm more and more sold on the intent of keeping it all understated to the point where you'd walk past it, thinking it was a standard case unless you were a true mod fr33k. Kinda like a "street sleeper"* custom car. *In a similar vein, when I was younger, the most fun I ever had at the traffic lights was in a bog-standard looking Mk1 escort popular with a 2.0 litre twin cam under the bonnet. It even had the stick on "grandad-style" rear window heater and standard-ish wheels and hubcaps (uprated tyres 'n' brakes tho'). Funny as fsck.
Okay, back on track with the original plans then. I won't get to paint again till the w/end at the earliest, (weather permitting) but seeing as we're on a fresh page with no pics and I've got the camera back for a night (returned as it kept turning off... Solution? Decent batteries) here's some high res ones to show the insides a little better. Slightly different angle this time but a lot clearer (must remember to refit my intake filter - the dust shows up a lot under flash ) < [182KB] < [165KB] < [116KB] I did take one of the bezel too but with the state it's currently in, it doesn't do it any more justice than you've seen. Once I strip it down next for a few final cuts, I'll be cutting out the rear fan grilles for the rear window mod but I may vent the case elsewhere if I do. I need to work out my airflow first so they'll stay for now. The PSU may get some more attention when it's out. Either a window, a paint job or some of the sticky-back chrome or gold sheet I bought back when I was doing the GW Aqua. (I've been trying to print on the stuff but I think it made need a laser printer rather than an inkjet for best results. I may mod the DVD one evening this week if I get the time though. That'll probably benefit from the metallised sheet too. Ooh! I just had a brainwave. Never seen it done and I don't expect I'll do it in this case but wouldn't it be sweet for showing off drive mods in a windowed case if you re-fabricated the drive cage sides out of thick acrylic? You heard it here first, right? Oh and after playing with this new digicam, I'm in the market for one soon...
Damn you with your sexy setup. I like those blocks more each time i see them! i really must give you some money when i have some!
Hehe, cheers m8. Shopping for the prizes tomorrow with any luck too! I guess this is as good a time as any to post the newer pics then, eh? Ok, here ya go - Now completely watercooled for your viewing pleasure - and if you want the nice big desktop pic that I made for mnpctech in this thread, just click the pic below. Enjoy. PS. I did mention Bit-tech forum in my article too but it got edited out as I got carried away with word-count (as usual).
Thx guys. Me too. It's a Forton/Source FSP-300 with PC Power & Cooling internals and Yup, I modded it Yuh-huh, it's in one of these up the top. I've switched out the Teac CDRom I modded to match it for the Pioneer DVD I mentioned further up the thread too. Also, since I put the modded AquaPower PSU in, I've put an IEC plug on the pump to plug into the corresponding relay socket, so now I only have one power cable at the back (although now I have another hole to fill where I'd temporarily chassis mounted the old plug).
Very nice! is that a waterblock on the capacitors on the mobo i see? (ace idea if it is, never seen that b4)
Eek, cheers Bill (I think ) *me loses another degree of anonymity* Btw, I forgot to mention but if you look carefully, you can see I was wearing my "Case Modder" t-shirt for posterity too but the photog managed to miss/obscure it in every shot they used .
