    1070.

    Faster than 980 Ti,

Priced at 970, which performs roughly half.

    Damn.

Now I really want to sell my 970 lol

£470 is not priced at 970. The 970 can be had now easily for less than half of that.

This card makes absolutely no sense when OCUK are selling 980tis sub £400. I've seen brand new ones selling for £379 or £399 bags you a MSI gaming with a mouse, mouse mat and stupid dragon toy. Either way it's cheaper than some of the 1070s out there and when overclocked should actually beat the 1070.

So I don't understand this card at all. The only positive way I could look at it is that the 980ti used to be £520 so it's a saving of around £50. Only all of the time there are 980tis selling for less (even one penny less) this card makes no sense.

Does it go passive in desktop mode? (maybe in "silent" settings?) I believe the old 970Strix did that.

There, fixed that, yes 2x HDMI is a good idea. :naughty:

Yeah me too. If I use HDMI I can only get 60hz. If I go DP I get 70hz, well worth it tbh.

The 970 was about £260 new, and basically stayed at that price for it's entire life. These are about £380 which is somewhat worrying if it holds it's price like the 970 did as I don't want to have to spend that much. On the plus point as Intel haven't bought a cpu worth upgrading too for a long time I really have nothing much to spend my pc upgrade budget on.

Still we badly need some competition.

Last gen stock always has more attractive pricing once the new stuff drops.

@Xir yes it does, I'm pretty sure I describe the fans as semi-passive somewhere

@Harlequin yes it is. See p2 for details on that.

In reality it was much closer to £300 for OCd vendor cards, with £260 being the absolute cheapest for vanilla stock. I paid £230 for a good overclocked 770 just before the 970 came out, and I was somewhat relieved to see the price of the 970 when it hit the shelves. But you make a good point about the 970 holding its price for a long time, which it did.

Nice performance from the 1070 and I'm sure the price will soon be very attractive for people looking to upgrade from 970/980.

Nice review; at £469.99 the Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Strix looks set at quite a high price point.

I paid just under £280 for an MSi 970 just after the card became available. Of course, the 1070 offers significantly better performance relative to my 970, but there are some good deals on the 980Ti.

I guess it's better to wait for the dust to settle, and for supply to catch up with demand, which might prompt retailers to compete more directly on price.

We shall see where the prices settle for the 1070 and 1080 custom cards. At the moment this is only £50 less than a custom 1080. Not sure why you would save £50 for 20% faster card.

This is pretty much the highest 1070 your going to see outside of some all in one water solution.

The US rrp plus VAT on top comes to about £370.

Someone is having a good laugh at our expense.

Lets not beat about the bush here, it's current pricing is OTT and more fool the muppet that pays the current retail premium for it.

The thing is that despite all of your outcries about price (which I do agree with) these cards are still selling very well, as far as I know. Who knows how much 1180 will cost then :p

If you agree with the price why did you give it a recommended award?
