Okay, I've just spent the last couple of weeks working on this old Compaq server that 'became' mine after I replaced it with a new server during a job I was doing for a school. Before pics are in this thread *Just had to adjust my DNS settings for my domain name - if the pics don't work, check back in a couple of hours.* Keeping true to the inspiration for this case mod's theme, I have re-examined my priorities and drawn new conclusions (can you tell what it is yet ). So, here is what the case looks like now, after painting it entirely gloss black, adding ATX-compliant PSU, motherboard and PCI mountings, and adding some of the watercooling gear... My brother demonstrating the top case panel. I've got a swifty RAD 676 in there, and I'm gonna finish off the blow-hole with some rubber moulding and some nice meshing, if there's any left over in my garage...
/me shows off the high-gloss paint finish I got from a spray can and the pc-workshops tutorial Ah yes, the ubiquitous Aquatube reservoir
I was trying to show off the near mirror-like reflection I've got on the side panels, but it didn't come out too well on camera. Also, I've yet to use auto polish on it Another not-so-hot picture, trying to show off the front hinged bezel, complete with see-through door.
The main chassis, before I chuck in the hardware and put all the panels on. Also notice the Hydor L30 pump where the hard disk rack used to be.
Looking very nice so far, should be pretty sexy when it all comes together I'm a big fan of the black internal chassis.
Hot damn! Those Aquatube reservoirs are too sexy! Is the res heavy? And what's the approx. price on those bad boys?
That gloss black paint looks quite nice. The chrome parts go great together with that as well. What are the main things you want to do to that case? Or are you trying to keep it a secret?
They're made of aluminium, which makes them surprisingly light. I paid ~£60 for the res, mounting plate and UV lighting module (hehehe). All in good time... although I already dropped a hint with "re-examining my conclusions and drawing new priorities".
