While I'm updating my current project
    C2 Clear Case

I thought I would post a small log of my previous mod (now my Server)

Unfortunately I don't have pics of the original case but I can tell you it was UGLY, so ugly in fact that it was in my store room for about a year before I got bored enough to try and mod it up.

This is version 1 of the front panel it has been sprayed and a window cut into it as well as 2 fan ducts.

After adding the window and some cathodes it looked like this.
(The LCD is a digital bay bus from MO)

After a few weeks i got bored with this case and decided to spice it up by making a new front out of perspex.

So I stripped the case down and rebuilt it.

Here is the new front panel.

I also added a 20mm clear base into which i drilled 4 bright blue Led's (the base also flashes to alert me of mail waiting on my server)

Once completed it looked a lot better.

    Some information on my PC.

The LCD (BayBus) has 8 x 12V outputs for fans and lights.
I also built a Ir receiver (serial) and with the brilliant LCDC software and the IR plug-in i control all my case functions via a universal remote.

LCDC is also set to control all the fans (6) dynamically as the temperature rises and drops.

The clear base LED's are also plugged into the LCD and can be set to flash or strobe on various events (like mail).

The back of the PC also houses a 8 port 10/100 switch (with a separate power supply as seen under the PSU)

    I also windowed the PSU.

My Server and My pc (the clear one) both run Asus NForce 2 deluxe boards with 2800+ Barton Cpu's and 1gig of ram.

The server has 250gig's of Hdd
    and my pc 200gig's

Hey! I like what you've done with the integrated 8 port 10/100 switch. Very tidy!

    Got lucky for my Ducky

I thought I had pretty much reached the end of the road for this case as far as adding new stuff to it and was happy to work on my clear case when I walked past a local pawn shop (NO NOT PORN) and saw this little gem in the window.

I have seen this used on another PC mod and always thought it looked cool so I couldn't resist. The colour of the globe matches my case lighting 100% (the combo of a red/pink cathode and lots of blue clear fans looks so cool with the static effect)

I also mounted 2 super bright blue LED's behind the globe as HDD activity lights (a nice effect that refuses to show up on camera :miffed: ) I also changed the blue base LED's for red ones.

You might want to watch the effect that globe could have on your system. If it's running fine, that's great, but you might get some interference problems :)

    Thanks folks.
First off the case has been working fine for 4 days now (running 24hours a day) The electronics for the globe are still in there original housing behind the globe so I think its OK.

LOL the handle thingies are actually air vents from a truck (don't know what truck but I saw them at a spares shop and thought they would look cool) The can rotate and be set to various open positions.

And I'm afraid when I started this mod I didn't have a digital camera so the first pic is all I got. It was very beige (almost yellow) with out the vent holes or little window down the front panel, the rest of the case was just plain beige steel. The frame work is what took my fancy It was well made with lots of space. It weighs a ton though. :D

well i like them anyways :D

you say they weight a ton, you mean they are made of steel?

and a sugestion: since the front is made of prespex, you could put some cathodes in the front, behind the prespex, so you could lighten up the front

Lol Soz for the confusion what I meant was the case is made of steel and weighs a ton. The Vents are plastic.

I had some cathodes behind the perspex before the globe but the back of the globe takes up a bit of room, but I'm looking into some other lighting effects for the front.

maybe you could use leds, or even ELtape, i think leds would give a better effect though.

I went out a got some nice Blue EL Wire to put behind the front panel, but :sigh: the black perspex turns my nice blue EL into a kinda green EL which totally messes up my colour scheme. but is cool I will make use of this on my next mod.

you should rig up a button to the globe... so the globe would be the power button
