"Whats ruining your life right now?" that would be "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" and what is that called???? SO with that being said....I am done!

 

And what results would you like to see?

 

Boot drive on my main PC has just died. SSD that's only a couple years old. Most things backed up but not a recent back up of anything not stored in google drive/one drive.

 

Bummer!!

 

Can't even RMA it as it was bought through the company I used to work for.

 

MSI GTX1080 Gaming X gave up. RMA time.

 

Know the feels... my HDD kicked it a bit ago... still running from a USB live image


Also tore my last wearable pair of jeans... essentially meaning i can't leave the house until i scrape together enough money to buy a new pair... which is looking like sometime in mid may...

...****ing hate this... it just keeps getting worse...

 

I didn't get the job. But that's not the bad part, I have to expect that I won't get any job I apply for - the bad part was the feedback.

There were no concerns with my ability to do the job: in terms of technical capability I had everything they were looking for and more. However they were concerned that I have worked for <My Current Employer> for 13 years and in their view I haven't been pro-active enough in developing my career in tech. They also felt that I tried to blame <My Current Employer> for my own shortcomings.

That was a slap in the face I wasn't expecting today.

 

If this was their reason, take solace in the fact that they're idiots, and lucked out in not working for them.

 

Yeah I probably did.

Last time I had an interview I didn't get the job because they were looking for more experience in analytics rather than development - basically "we don't think you have the skills we're looking for", and that I can accept. But to be told "we don't think you're the sort of person we want" is an entirely different matter. Kicks you in the balls that little bit more when they make it so personal.

 

Well that sucks dude.

Interviewing is an iterative process though, I think. You do a few interviews, you get your interview skills back in shape over the course of a few sessions and then eventually you get the offer.

 

Sooo, basically they don't want anyone who will stick around and keep working for them, and maybe expect, I dunno, raises?

I know of a number of companies that fire everyone after 2 years because it's cheaper to replace them than pay them more. It sucks, but you probably dodged a bullet.

 

somebody at work tanked a switch and killed 6 48port line cards ...

that was early monday morning. it managed to affect almost every system in some way ...
i have been on bridge calls off and on for the last 72 hours ... sleep deprivation is fun at 25. at 44, it sucks.

10 people on the bus 6 of them staring at their phones, oh how sad we humans have become.

 

Boy do you got that right!!! Driving down the busy street in a college town, students walking everywhere, no one making eye contact because everyone is staring down at there phone

 

It is 3am I am exhausted but for the life of me I can not go to sleep!!!!!

 

Valid point but how many of these people would you see with the same open paper walking down and crossing the road?
