Is it just me or is the design of this card much less coherent from a visual point of view than the Asus and MSI ones?

For £760 I'm not very impressed with the 4K frame rates TBH.

..Doesn't look like there's any headroom left over for games going forward.

These look more like the ultimate 1440p cards, giving a guaranteed 60fps in all current titles with enough spare grunt to do so for games due in the next couple of years, rather than being true, single card 4K GPU's.

...we're still a generation or two away from real, genuine 4K cards if you ask me.

    It is $720 in America,

With the exchange rate of today it should be £575 + vat (£690)
With the exchange rate from three years ago it would cost £420 + vat (£504)
With the exchange rate from ten years ago it would cost £360 + vat (£432)

So if our lovely government hadn't allowed for the total destruction of our currency it wouldn't be a £700 card.

Whether it costs £700 or £760, the frame rates would still leave me unimpressed.

..and your exchange rate comparisons of yesteryear are bogus.

..even when the pound was higher, UK buyers were always ripped off by price gouging UK retailers being greedy and the prices being asked bore little resemblance to the actual exchange rate at the time.

Yes, cold hard numbers that are openly available for any member of the public to look up from multiple sources are bugs.

Also I'm not calling the card cheap, I just understand that the destruction of the value of our currency is behind a very significant part of that price.

I'm not disputing the currency rates, I'm disputing the 'real world' prices that were being charged to the end consumer regardless of how the £ was valued.

..and the term 'destruction' is approaching drama queen levels, there have been numerous occasions over the last 50yrs when the pound underwent similar devaluations and has since recovered.

..that's how free floating currencies work.

It is no secret that everyone and their dog manipulating the value of their currencies.
So no, not free floating at all.
The only conclusion is that our government is less competent than other governments at manipulating it in our favour, in other words, they are complicit in the harm those high prices do to us.

Do you need to tie your case down to prevent it from taking off if you install these GPU?

Naturally an impressive card of course, some great results.

More the opposite. You need a sound foundation under the case you install it in.

Eh? Surely all GPU PCB's are made this way? Or are there factories of cheap Asian labourers manually soldering caps and VRM's out there??

Anyways, butt fugly card, extortionate price, weak overclock (stock memory? Please...). Only compliment I can give it is that they did well to keep the name under the Twitter character limit.

Even deep pocketed governments cannot fight market forces in currency exchanges, which exceed 5.1 trillions dollars a day.

But yeah the high price of today's pc components is definitely a consequence of the weaker pound.

Tell that to Switzerland who forced a specific exchange rate vs the Euro or to China who artificially stabilizes vs the US Dollar.

Either way, since we are not politicians or a bank we only get to spend our money once and it sucks when all those crazy prices on imported stuff reduce our disposable income.

You could build quite a decent mid range PC for that bread.
They are totally taking the psss, currency fluctuations or not.

    Ryzen 5 1500X - £190
    Cheap B350 Mobo - £80
    16GB 3000Mhz DDR4 - £120
    RX 480 4GB - £170-180

£200 left over for case, PSU, HDD and cooler. And that's at retail prices, you can save more than a few pennies going 2nd hand...

Why have you not included the already reviewed Asus Strix 1080Ti in all the graphs?

Why spend that much, you can build a gaming PC for £300 with a bit of work and some second hand parts? Why buy an iPhone when some Chinese phone gives you most of the same stuff?

Nothing wrong with having a luxury high end market - it keeps PC gaming alive.
