Has anyone bought one and had a probelm? I have a 550- dual fan gold thingymabob and my PC will not post. All fans whirring e.t.c but no cigar. It's a brand new mobo and chip so my thoughts are on the PSU being dodgy and not giving enough oomph to post.
Yeah I have one, I thought it was crap because I was getting 12.8V out of the 12V rail and 2.8 out of the 3.3, but I changed motherboard and they're nice and solid now. Not the quietest thing ever, but it does the trick nicely for the price.
Ive been using one for three months now and its been fine. The fans can be a little noisy but a little bit of modding soon sorts that out
I was tempted by the low price but after i took one in my hand i changed my mind. It was so light....... I don't know what's inside but it doesn't seem well constructed, just smoke in eyes. Furthermore it has so many bad reviews.....
I just got one of those, it's a quality bit of kit mate. You'll be glad you bought one. As for Q-tec 550w - I have one in my BP6 box and it's never given me any bother at all. Having said that, it is very noisy and oozes cheapness from every corner when compared to something decent like an Antec.
i have one and after about a month the fans started to rattle, so i swapped them for better ones, does the job nicely my 12v rail is at 12.3 5v is at 5.03 and 3.3v is at 3.36v great value for money just the cheap pink fans are a bit crappy
3.3 - 3.34 5 - 4.95 12 - 11.86 Pretty stable from my q-tec Ive only just stared using mine again as it let out a wierd buzzing noise but for sum reason its ok now :-/
mine blew up and took a mobo + hd with it replaced with a spangly thermaltake 420w silent, very similar to the antec but much cheaper
I have the qtec 550w and it works fine in a few mobos i have but on one it randomly posts, so going by this experience I have to say stay away from it.
I use a Q-Tec 550W with an ECS K7S5A MoBo (which are notorious for being PSU-fussy) and thus far, it's worked flawlessley. It's the PSU of choice for loaded-K7S5A owners.
i have a Q tec 550, although i have repleced it with an Antec, the Qtec was ok but when u switched cathodes on and off it would trip, if u've nothing fancy in the case then i think they are good value... but i was amazed at how much the Antec Tru blu just oozed quality, u can really see where the money has gone - if u can afford it go for the antec's everytime
I also have the Q-Tec 550. Its good on a budget but not if you're looking for the best quality. I've never had a problem with it. Although the lines aren't exactly close to the right value (sill within acceptable levels) and it can be very noisey. When I have the chance (and money ) I will probably upgrade it to a Zalman or an Antec one
I've had a Q-Tec 550w in my 2nd pc for nearly a year now, and that gets quite a bit of use - no problems to report sofar
