    Winbot Project - Phase I

The one or other might have seen it on Facebook that we are the lucky ones who could get one of those Awesome limited Edition Winbot Cases made by in Win. :)

And we were just overwhelmed when it arrived - they´re just incredible!

And naturally our first and biggest Thank you !!!! goes out to all those nice People at In Win for their Trust and Support on this Project !!!!

We feel really honored to be able to work on this Chassis. It is really a Masterpiece!!!

As everybody who knows us can imagine we really want to do a mod with it.
But first of all we have to fulfill some duties before we can start the modding process, so Phase I is the transformation from the pure epic chassis.....to a real nice build which can be used to display some nice Hardware on several Events which we will do together with Intel.

The first Event is already done....but we didn´t had the time to do a Log before the Event started.

That was mainly caused by the Hardware which arrived really just in time to get it done before we had to leave to the Event. But now we had some more time left to sort everything out and take some more pics of the progress which we made so far.

But let some pics do the talking.....

When a Winbot arrives at your Door.....it looks something like this....

and like you can see....it´s a really big crate....we had to store it in the Garage first....because we couldn´t get the Crate into the house....:)

So we had to unbox the Case there so that we could bring this beauty in our Workshop (little sidenote: that was approx. 1 week before the Event started)

Within the next days the Hardware arrives piece by piece.....so we have to send really really Big Thank You !!!!! to Intel, Asus, Nvidia, Aquatuining, Seasonic & Patriot for their help, support & Patience!!!!!

Without their Help we won´t be able to get the System up and running for the first Event.

Like everybody knows who had to do a project on a real tight schedule....not all Components that you would wish to integrate in such a Project will be available when you need it or they arrive just one day after you have to leave for the Event. So we had to deal with that and improvise on the one or other detail for the First Event .....but we made the best out of it, and get the System up and running.....with the last parts which arrived approx. 12 hours before we had to start our roadtrip....and here are a few pics from the first assembly....

Sadly we cannot show you a lot of pics from the Events....because they were held under a real strong NDA....but now after the first Event is over....we have something around 2 weeks to overwork everything again......so we will start the 2nd Event with a new Look and much better matching Colors on the Components....but more about that will follow with the first update....

Space might be too tight, but doesn't it seem like a good spot for the res is lined up with the cylinder on the front?
Matching the tubing to the radius of the dome might look neat too.
I should probably just sit back and OOOh and AAAh, but it's rare to get suggestions in on one of your projects. -Or are you already finished?

Getting it in one line is really a problem...because of the missing space..

yeah, we also thought on that, but for the first Event we were really happy to get everything together in time....so we hadn´t much choices because of the time running out and missing parts, tubes etc..

Before the second Event on the last weekend we overworked the complete watercooling setup and had a first tube with such a bend in it....but we didn´t bend all tubes matching to the Dome Radius because in that week we had a little problem with our tubes....we got a fresh delivery of tubes...but with the wrong diameter....we didn´t see it first....but when we were bending new tubes....we recognized....oh they are too small....(12mm instead of 13)....and it was a day or two before the Event ...so again not enough tubes to replace them all.....

oh no.....never do this....that would be booooooring!!!!

no no...we are not finished yet....i think in the next days i can present you the next set of pictures...of everything we changed for the second event.....and after the next weekend.....we will start with the real modding process......(then the 3rd Event will also be done)

It´s time for a first Update.....in the last 2 Weeks we were really busy preparing everything for the last 2 Events with Intel for this year. So we overworked the whole Watercooling Setup....and changed a few other details so that our build finally matches the Intel Colors....
So at first a big Thank you to Aquatuning!!!! For sending us a few more parts (Eisbecher Helix, Sleeving Materials, Eiszapfen Moddings Kits and tubing) so that we could swap them with the parts which we used first.....

Beside that we also printed a few Fan Grills sanded and painted them so that they also match the blue/white color Combination....

And now after the 3rd Event is done. We finally can start with the real modding process....so as next we´re going to disassemble everything so that we can start our Mod!......

Yeah that was exactly what we thought when we see it the first time on Pictures

I think some of you will be interested how it looks inside the winbot underneath the visible part....so here are some pictures of the disassembly and the mechanics behind the movement.......

    Time for the next Update:

But first of all we want to send a huge Thank YOU! to Nvidia for their help on this Project!!
They already send us these beauties which we will use on our build:

Up to now we used the 1070....but with the 12 Core I9 we really could use some more GFX Power to unlock the full Potential of the Hardware.

Beside that we are working on the new outer shell of our Winbot.
Here is a really quick made raw rendering of what we´re planning:
Like you can see its really raw and without all the details, but i think you can understand the direction in which we´re heading.

So we already started to print the first parts of the new shell a few weeks ago....and hopefully within this week the last parts will be ready so that we can assemble that huge puzzle....fill the last gaps and start to sand everything so that we could start the joining process of the case with it´s new shell afterwards.
Like you can see both of our printers are working the whole day.....

We also worked out some of the details which we are going to integrate on the inside of the Case....like a few matching fan grills....

Wouldn't Return of the Jedi Death Star be a better option? It would have the window built in. Probably too late since you already used a small fortune worth of plastic already. :hehe:

Yeah it would probably have safed us some kilograms of plastic.....and we really thought about it, but we don´t wanted such an half completed death star ..... when it comes to weapons of mass destruction we want the real thing.....

Over the last weeks we were busy finishing a few other Projects (2 for the CES & 2 Client builds) so we hadn´t much time to work on our Death Star Project. But we got some Puzzle work done and put the next pieces of the Raw Shape together.....

Like you can see the upper half is almost put together (but still needs a lot of work until it´s done)
So we also start to put the lower half together.....

Ok, it´s time for the next Update:
But before we start we want to spend a bit of time to send another big thank you to Nvidia (& especially Jan) for their Help and Support on this Project!!! And for hearing our Prayers :)
Yesterday we got a nice package with this 2 cuties which will match our Project perfect!!!!

But now back to the Project itself:
Like you can imagine.....we did more puzzling work in the last week....but it comes together....so that we could also fill the first spots and dents with a bit of bondo....

But it is still a lot of work left.....

Beside that we made a few test prints of matching fan grills....but at the moment we are not sure....which we will finally use....

That's a lot of plastic. Pretty cool to see what can be done with a 3D printer

It was a long time since the last update....but that was caused by a simple reason....there was no progress which you really could see....but here are a few pictures of what we did....
After putting the puzzle together we started to fill all those little gaps and also started to sand the outer surface .....and then we repeated those steps....again and again....
Last but not least we also started to give more structual strength to the buiild. For that we added a layer of fibreglass to the inside....so that we could smooth the inner surface as next step....

    It´s time for another update!!
In the last weeks we were pretty busy with a short Trip to Taiwan....but before we left our Workshop we filled some more of those smaller gaps and sanded as much of the surface as we could.....
After we returned from our Trip we directly continued our Work on the new Winbot Shell and we also added a first layer of paint so that we could have a better look on those last spots which still needs a bit of work....

As next we are going to overwork some more little spots.....and we will also start to integrate a hinge....so that the top part can be opened when we are done....

    HUGE.
and finally round. :D I feel you should be warned about random2k4 's X wing computer. You might want to build some tie-fighter cases for defense at the next LAN.
