Or you could argue that, for a gamer (which my mate's lad most definitely is), that the faster response times of a modern TN panel outweigh the benefits of increased colour reproduction and viewing angles of an IPS.

 

If the screen you're looking at is the S2417DG, it's really good and I highly recommend it. With some profile tweaking you can get the colours out pretty nicely. Just search around and you'll find plenty of recommendations for it.
