    Hi
I have recently replaced my cpu on my very old 1150 system and think i have killed my motherboard

I can only get the system to boot with 1 stick of memory.

Both sticks work in the same socket.

I have tried swapping cps, clearing bois, praying but still only boots with one.

Do you think i should be looking for replacement motherboard

Have you checked for bent pins in the socket?

Take a close up pic of the socket and let us see it. It sounds like a pin issue.

I had the same with my s1150 board, and a quick careful reseat brought the missing DIMM slot back. No pins obviously out of place in my case.

    Hi
    Thanks for your help guys.

Taking it apart again and don't see any bent pins.

Slot 1 still works but now if I try dual channel it get stuck in a loop of resetting.

Sounds like something is amiss with the pins or the CPU if there’s no physical damage to the motherboard.

That would lead me to believe there's something wrong with the pins or with the board itself. You've ruled out the CPU being the cause, which sucks in a way.
