Here only I can't understand why to do a sketch in 3D at once? The pencil near at hand hasn't appeared? It isn't sure that I know about all PSU "Thermaltake", but about what I know won't be located in yours rendering. And only present, that quantity of wires... no, it isn't necessary better. (Too not to consider this post).
I don't see sense in what you have exposed for discussion here. Here sense of my messages. Blya, I can not in English I write?
«Blya» it in Russian exclamation with a disappointment shade. (Too not to consider this post). I promised that I will return after your subject gains at least couple of tens of comments, on it my present comments shouldn't be considered. Everything, I leave.
Come back when its 'popular' enough for your input. several drawings were made before hand anyways as its required as part of my course.
Yeah, Prometheus' English is not perfect. I think he's saying you could use an inner motherboard tray layer so you can pull the back panel for access and hide the wires. Also, he's right about needing to get a power supply in the design. They are big fat pigs and take up a lot of space. Deciding on an e-atx or small-form-factor PSU used to be critical since the higher power SFF units didn't exist a few years ago.
I'm currently working on cable management routing, thinking of having them go under the mobo then out into the back section of the case. PSU was added, fits rather snug, just need to design a bracket for it. All should be cleared up in my next update
My personal preference for cables is to use 3/4" to 1" risers, and leave a large open space under the motherboard. The risers get longer each project because cables still find ways to jam up and tangle.
Okay, thanks for that, I'll have to consider that when I do my cutout! [Edit] Looking at my design rn, i cant really move my mobo any further away from my plate than it already is, which isn't very much. I can manage to run headers and other smaller cables under but the 24pin etc will have to have a slightly more visible cutout.
[Update] Only a mini update as have been in Milan for the week. - Cover changed to grey for a more neutral and subtle look.
[Update] Been quiet recently. In the process of ordering all the acrylic sheets I will need then on to laser cutting and assembly!
[Update] Been busy cutting what pieces I can and have started bending, lots of updates to come as my deadlines nears!
Good question, not entirely sure yet. Might print some tabs might even use magnets but be careful where I put them...
[Update] Sorry it's been so long, been very busy with other stuff... Long awaited 'final' update before my hand in date. I ended up using some magnets at the top, located a long distance from anything they could affect. I also had to mount some clips at a the bottom as the magnets were not quite strong enough. Here is the rest of the photos. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances this thread will be inactive as my project has to be kept by school until the end of October but I hope to pick it up then and resume it
