Hi all. I am looking to replace my current car and get the 2015 Mondeo Titanium 2.0 diesel. But I have struggled to find a definate answer on the fuel capacity or even the approx cost to fill up. Has anybody got one, and if so how much roughly does it cost to fill the tank? Thanks in advance Garry
62L for ICE, 53L for hybrid. Out of interest, whats the point of "price to fill up"? Do you drive till the tank is completely empty?
Thank you I more or less always fill from nearly empty, just habit I suppose. My current car costs about £53 to fill. But if I turned up at the pump and it cost say £70 to fill, then my wife would not be best pleased
Price per tank isn't an indicator of running costs, though - If it averages more (or the same) MPG as your current car, then you'll be filling up less often anyways. My diesel DS4 had a 60L tank, I would get about 700 miles out of it, maybe 750 if I did a bit more motorway. My current petrol Swift only has a 35L tank and gets about 350-400 miles out of it. Essentially I spend pretty much the same per month on fuel, I just fill up twice as often.
Price to full is a silly metric in all fairness. My wife’s car has a 14 gallon tank, but my truck has a 26 gallon tank... she gets the same miles out of a tank compared to me. Oh boy, I do love my 5.7L Hemi, though. You should go by MPG and not much else. Running costs are also a factor, but not being discussed here as of right now.
Totally agree with you all, however, my wife does not see it like that even though it is the only way to look at it. We are stretching the monthly budget to go from a Ford Focus to the Mondeo. And anything that makes it look more expensive is a no no in her book. I guess when I fill up I will go by myself just in case
Oh god, have you had the joy of trying to explain what MPG means with your missus, too? Mine literally just couldn't get it - and she has a bloody Master's degree!
Depending on driving style and engine iirc you can get similar mpg from a mondeo and focus, iirc they have the same sized tank too.
That's troubling, my 5-year-old understands what MPG is. Srsly. So using this metric, my wife's £70/tank 17mpg car should be cheaper to run than my £110/tank 45mpg one?
As someone who has one as a co car i'd say it averages around 48mpg and tank to full from a quarter left is approx 60 quid (118p litre). Mines automatic though so you should see more than 48mpg. The tank is 70l btw, new focus is 55l
Get a late 2014-15 C class and fit the European 41 litre tank, cheap to fill Typical bent german auto company bending the rules for tests. Or fill the tank with marbles
