    A few things.

    A bunch of printed Tyvek wristbands for an event next weekend.
    A new tent with extension, because mine is 25 years old and not weather proof at all anymore, and we got this one for a bargain
    A camping/hiking trip with the wife and my dad.

    Planning on taking my eldest on her first camping trip soon - just one or two nights, to start - so picked up a few handy-dandy things ahead of a main order (including a £60 surprisingly-well-reviewed lightweight tent, which should be interesting):

    FIskars ultra-tiny camping axe    . Sharp!

    Mora Outdoor Companion Knife    . Also sharp!

    Coghlans Backpackers Trowel    . Somewhat less sharp!

    Still on the list: the tent, a couple of ultra-lightweight blow-up sleeping mats, thin sleeping bag for me, solar panel ('cos why not), lantern, clever paracord with cotton thread, two types of fishing line, and waxed tinder cord included in it, set of plastic sporks, folding water bucket, pocket-sized blanket, couple of chairs, and some Gorilla Tape just in case the £60 tent turns out to be... well, what you'd expect from a £60 tent.

    it's logical, but also interesting to me how camping is different everywhere in the world.
    For example, tents.

    Around here, camping often entails not having water, so people drive big 4x4s into the desert anyway, loaded with water, fridges, etc. Light weight is not a thing here. Instead, ruggedness (thorn bushes and sharp rocks are a thing) and shade come at a premium. As such, the tent I just bought, with extension comes in at a hefty 58kg or so, but covers 20sq.m. in heavy duty rip-stop canvas and fly sheet (both... you can zip it up and down).

    My sister in Iceland, by comparison, just bought a Coleman blackout for her family. Because midnight sun is an issue.

    My brother in Germany just bought an ultra light ultra compact tent for hiking. It's all but rugged, but it's a place to sleep.

    Yeah, mine's for fairweather camping only, and weighs 2.2kg - which, considering I'm hoping to squeeze all this into a backpack and still be able to stand is a little more manageable!

    I've already got our cooking system (the Kelly Kettle Base Camp Kit in stainless steel - heavier than the aluminium version, but less likely to melt if you leave it burning a little too long), so I should be sorted now. Huzzah!

    Arai?! Luxury! :grin:

    To be fair it's probably time for me to start looking at a new lid. My Shark S900 has done me proud for a year and a half now, but it really doesn't cope too well in the rain. The seals around the visor don't always keep the rain out very well, so I end up with water dripping into my face and a fogged pinlock.

    Just scored an Optimal EH200ST for £180 only has a few hundred lamp hours on it's original lamp! They are circa £750 new!

    Also about 15m of 48mm scaffold for making my bed frame, some kee klamps and king sized matressm from IKEA : )

    That is so cool, and I need one! ...what is it?
    I used to be able to read runes, but I can't seem to make sense of these even though it seems it's written in english...

    Edit: Aha! I see, it's an album cover. :hehe: I thought it was some obscure IO-card of some kind. Well, colour me intrigued. Will check out this band. Still can't make sense of the runes though...
