Modding What is the most crazy still doable place to build a working computer in?

im lost on that one. I like the fish idea, just you would have alot of people mad if you boiled them!

 

How about using tropical fish, so you'd have to keep the computer running all the time to keep the heat up?

 

Inside an old dot-matrix printer

Inside a hollowed out network hub/router... use all the rj45s for the keyboard, mouse etc...

convert a laptop... (that would be a waste of time...)

how about the really old hard drives... they were pretty big...

the new mini-itx M10k is tiny, how about gutting an old CD-ROM...?

A Lamp PC... the lightbulb is the power on indicator...

Multiple mini-itx PCs inside one tower... pre networked... a kinda mini-portable LAN-party-in a box ... if i had the money, i'd be doing this one now

Even though it seems like everything's been 'done' - half the time they have been done very poorly. People dropping m-itx boards in wherever they can, badly cut holes and a few leds.

There's still plenty of things to do well.

 

OK, it is not just ME. There is a need, or at least a market for motherboards that go beyond the typical form factors. Just a brain fart at the moment, but flex ribbon interconnects for a mobo that can be warped into very odd or unconventional enclosures without loss of full PC functionality.

Turn the mobo itself into a 3D sculpture tool.

K, if it has been done... link me, I want one. Not some ebedded microcontroller, but a full blown - full funtion PC mobo. High speed 4 and 6 layer flex ribbon interconnects might be TOO extreme an engineering task for the moment and modular blocks with fiber optic I/O are way down the road.

Have not seen much for truely wireless mods. Power done by inductive recharge, wireless keyboard-mouse and I/O- including wireless 3/D glasses video. Put it all in an easy carry bowling ball?

There are several companies making inductive recharge pads for laptops already. Eventually you will see many wireless devices with this technology as well as Centrino wireless areas with such inductive recharge tables for your laptops, cell phones and PDAs.
