Ahh the memories... I owned a (used) Golf Mk2 16v GTi for 2 weeks before it was written off by a rear end shunt while stationary at a junction. :waah:
Never got to try it out properly, as it had an engine fault that was due to be looked at in the near future.
Guy that hit me lost his job over it, as he was the delivery driver at the BMW dealer taking a customer's car home after its service :eeek:

This has never been quite so shiny.

It's spent the last three days at PW Pro, where they've done some most excellent work. Detail and polish all round, ceramic coating all round and xpel film on the front half and roof. BMW was there for two days earlier in the week as well for a paint correction and detail. It's also looking shiny, but I neglected to take a photo, and it's decidedly less shiny now since I had a round trip to Heathrow yesterday.

I'd rather like to see that in person one day, before I leave the country, middle fingers raise high.

...but you wouldn't have to clean the car afterwards, so I guess that's still a win...? ;)

Another car in its shiniest moment...

Paintwork was pretty nasty in places as seen in the "before" photos - Sytner was really helpful and "detailed it" free of charge when I borrowed a car for a long weekend, where they apparently left a toddler in charge of the rotary polisher. Unfortunately due to a distinct lack of sunny days, I didn't notice they mess they made to the paintwork for weeks afterwards.

The 7 Series certainly looks fit for royalty :), what car did they lend you? anything exciting?

Or serious debt? I'll never say which. The 7er isn't worth any more than a well specced family hatch these days, stunning bargain s/h IMO, thanks to idiots like me that bought new and bore the catastrophic depreciation. I wanted it to be mine (options, colour, interior etc) as opposed to the countless other black-on-black, white-on-black and black-on-white near-new models available at the time.

I love it, even 5 years and 50k miles on. Big wafty car, big comfy seats, big hifi is just about all I want in a daily, and it fits the bill perfectly. When it's time to move on there's a high chance of it being replaced with the same again.

They lent me a... <drum roll>... 7 series. A new one though. It had the opposite effect from what I'm sure they intended. Apart from a couple bells and whistles that it's basically the same car I already have, just newer and shinier. I decided at that point that I would just hang on to this one until its no longer viable to run.

The big, big boss here just bought a brand new 750i in white. It’s a huge car and must be very luxurious inside. We believe it set him back $110k and that he likely paid cash... *******.

Does a 7-series really count as a huge car in the US? Every time I see an X6 I think "jesus, that must be a nightmare to park", but maybe the shape is so BMW, I don't notice the 7-series being much bigger than a dime-a-dozen 5-series??
