Built a few little machines a few months ago with the Pentium Gold G5400, around £50 cracking little CPU.

Just gone to order another...£79.99 :O, is there a Ryzen at a similar price that performs the same / better, I can't justify giving Intel £80 for a Pentium processor.

An AMD Athlon 200GE with a A320 chipset motherboard perhaps as an alternative...?

    Comparison LINK1 LINK2

CPU and board for just over £100.

    Ryzen 3 2200G is ~£90 iirc
    Athlon 200GE is ~£50

Those are the two closest price wise.

The 2200G is surprisingly gutsy for the price.

It's a cracking CPU for the money. Four cores, iGPU and can potentially OC to 4 GHz on the box cooler (I think?) ... bargain!

If you plan on using the integrated Vega, overclock that first (and beware the no mans land) and squeeze the rest out of the CPU.
