    Hi all,
this is my first projectlog at Bit, but I'm not new here.
I've been planning a plexi-case, but I just don't have the funds to make it.
One day I found that I needed a new case for a computerparty. What should I do?
Simple, buy the Scandinavian's favourite case; a Q-tec. Hmm.. But the big tower is too big, I need to get it on the plane!
So, a Q-tec midi case it was.

As I said, the case was for a computerparty, and I had only a weekend to do anything. I had plexi, rivets and a case.

First thing was to make up a design, this was what I ended up with:

I cut the design out with a jigsaw, washed and filed it down.

The plexi was cut to shape and fastened to the panel. Then, I measured and drilled holes through the plexi and steel.

At last i pop-riveted the plexi to the panel:

That's the first part. Next up I'll work on some lightning and etching.

    RAMeLaiR: thank you!
I suppose it's because Q-tec's hq is in Rotterdam or something. I bought the case from komplett.no and they ship in the original box

    nice case, and good window.
but how did you start cutting the hole - using an axe??!

What does/will "Firemorph" relate to? will you be painting it?

The name Firemorph, is for several reasons. Most of all because that's the nick I use. Used Plasma before, but I've been using Firemorph for a while, and it'll kind of identify myself in some way ;)

It'll get a paintjob yes, not quite sure on colours yet, though

When I first saw that pic a month or so ago, I told him that one shall not use a can opener to make windows :eyebrow:
Anyway, it all looks great, I must say. Looks like my case's little brother. Plasma, do you think my fulltower also has that "moveable" mobo tray? (I have never really checked).
I'm looking forward to the etching and stuff.

Bard, as your case is just the big brother of mine, I actually think so, juyst unscrew the non-window side, and check. Should take less than a minute... ;)

Because of all the references to the window, I started with a dremel clone, but after 2-3 cm, it stopped working. This made me use a drill and then take a nose plier and bending the steel up, this didn't work to good. Later on I got a metal blade for the jigsaw...

Great mod n' all.. I know it hasnt finished yet, and therefore i dont know if you have thought about this yet, but you should really get some rounded IDE Cables and some spiralwrap for the PSU cables...

Dats all. Hope you will appreciate it hihi

Why oh why did you buy that stupid case ??

I've build tons of computers with that case. It's simple and easy to assemble... but that's it... it has absolutly no special cool features...

    to Linkitch:

i might be new at this, but isn't that the point of modding... to take a case and create something with your so called " cool features ". i think anyone who can take on modding a simple case is good.

anyway theres alot of mods like this.. here's one:

i couldnt agree more. if you can turn **** into something :jawdrop: jawdropping then that's called modding. if you buy something that has cool features then that's called shopping. if you make it have cool features, that again is called modding.

    [edit0r]**** = a synonym of poop[/edit0r]

Thanks for all the responses, it's nice to see someone shows some interest. I've been doing some etching tests on scrap plexi, and the window etch is coming up.

Why did I buy this case?

1: It was really cheap, and I was short on money
2: It has no cool features, which I look at as a challenge.
3: I liked the general looks of it

Yah, I'll get/make some rounded IDE cables, but until now these square ones are ok. (Electrical tape and accordion folding).
The power wires will also get an overhaul, but I prefer heatshrink instead of Spiral wrap
