Has anyone used a NUC or Brix or similar tiny, low-powered PC with ESXi or something else for virtualization? I can pick up a J1900 based Brix for about £90 and already have dimms and an HDD for it so just wondering if it's worth it.
What CPU in nuc? Most limiting factor will be RAM, j1900 supports max 8gb. Depending on what you are doing on your vm's, that might not be enough for just one.
The ones I've looked at all support VT-x and 8GB is fine as I'll only be running linux VM's for testing and training. 1 or 2 vCPU cores and 2GB should be fine. Before anyone suggests R-Pi's - I have a couple already.
hope this is ok with the mods, if your after a nuc i have one that didnt shift in the marketplace here, nuc 5i5ryk yours if you want it
Can you point me in the direction of that post in the marketplace? I've had a look but can't find it.
Both, theres plenty running them as ESXi hypervisors and then running plex, radarr, sonarr, sab, web servers and much more,
I want to grab a nuc or 2 for myself to play around with ESXI control server, as i use an ESXI machine at the moment but its just one so i dont have a central control server
