Solution... reduce most/more boards to 2 DIMM slots.

Realistically how many people have 4x DIMMs?... Sure you've got 2 spare and 'oh I can always add more RAM later' sloshing around your mind, but the majority seldom do.

Or go ITX... no PCI-E slots you ain't gonna use, no empty DIMM slots you have to fill with ******** DIMMs.

They do aid cooling don't they? on two of my systems, one DDR4 , one DDR3 once fully populated and with volts cranked through them they needed airflow for stability I would have thought the heat spreaders on DIMMs are helping to dissipate this heat.

If you have the argeebees they're a fantastic idea. I would like to see a return of aftermarket ram heatsinks, something more meaty and metallic.

RGB is fun and if you can't get stuff without it easily (gfx cards, AIO coolers, mice, ...) then you might as well use them. I wouldn't go out of my way to do so, though.

They look a little better and make them safer to handle.
That said, I hate huge heat sinks as they obstruct cooler clearance.

Only little kids and **nope** need shiny LEDs in their computer. Normal people use their computer; they don't look at its innards.

I might not be a fan of LEDALLTHETHINGS, but I am absolutely here for attaching ridiculously massive heatsinks to things that don't actually need a heatsink at all.

Go noctua. You won't regret it.

On the actual article matter. It would allow me to make my build more christmasy

Such as dogbert's head using an Intel stock cooler when he's busy benchmarking during the summer... for example.

I'm one of the least PC people on the planet in terms of humour, THAT particular word however is decidedly cringe worthy.

To be fair to Corsair this wasn't really their idea. It was suggested to them over and over again on the Corsair forum, they just listened is all.

*joke from other forum* it's no different to the GTX 970 really..... (not my joke but god it made me laugh).

I'm a fan of RGB because it has an off button. It really is as simple as that.
