    hi guys,

so i bought some B&W CM382's and im now wondering around speaker placement.

after going through the plans with my builder on velux window placement and im left with the following

    WALL -- 80cm GAP -- WINDOW (76cm) ---- 158cm GAP ---- WINDOW (76cm) -- 80cm GAP -- WALL

the ceiling is sloped and around 2.7m from the floor at the centre.

I was going to place them in the 158cm gap so they will be roughly 120cm apart when installed. this seems like the best plan but the manual says for stereo they sohuld be placed 3-5m apart !!!

i cant place them in the 80cm gaps as i will have wall units in the way.

am i overthinking this and will they will be fine :)

    thanks

More separation is always better, especially since you won't be listening from a fixed position. 120cm isn't anywhere near enough for stereo separation for anything other than near-field listening really.

Can they come further out into the room to clear the wall units? I confess I'm struggling to visualise the room from the description.

So the measurements i provided are all based on the length of the kitchen and where the gaps are along that length.

If i put them within the 80cm Gaps then the speaker would be directly overhead of wall units more or less or at least very close. Wall units tend to come out around 40-50cm.

Can't you place them 60cm+ from the wall to clear the units entirely?

the speakers are 25cm wide (10" ones) and the ceiling window starts at 80cm in from the wall so there isnt enough room. There is technically even less space than that as i cant place the speaker in a roof joist !

Riiiiight - the wall units are on the side walls, not the front wall.

yeah sorry front wall is bascially a 80cm wall followed by a 3.1m bi-fold then another 80cm of wall. the wall units run down the side walls.
