What is the game like to play right now? Highlights? I found the interface a bit clunky last time I played, but the scale was undoubtely terrific. Potential is there, just hope they can still fund it now ^^

Tis okay for just enjoying the view I guess and exploring, desperately need more missions, the trading system is currently broken, bounty system is on a first come first serve basis so by the time you get there the bounties already been claimed. Pvp is non-existent. However, it’s slowly starting to materialize with the main systems in place meaning adding crap to do should be straightforward and simple. Combat and ship control is on point as is ship mods. I honestly don’t think it’ll be long before it’s ready considering most of the hard work has already been done and it runs absolutely fine on my RX 560 which is a poverty card considering the prices of the latest cards. I’m beyond happy :)

In addition to the above there's [very] rudimentary mining... There is *some* PVP, partly because the most lucrative money-maker atm is drug running, so you have some wanting to steal your droogs and others wanting to stop you running the droogs.

I'm not really annoyed - developing a massive video game and building a business (studio) from scratch is hard.

Do I wish it was already out/coming faster? Absolutely!

Do I have a reasonably amount of faith they will mostly deliver.....eventually? Yes!

The project could have definitely been run better in hindsight, but anyone who works in a mildly complicated field knows thats how these things go, and they've done a fantastic job of keeping the community involved. All hail the whales for keeping the funding going.

 Looks like my ships got deleted from the roster sheet.
    Added them all back in.

Here's what's missing on the image:
    2x P72
    1x Aurora LN
    1x 325a
    1x Hornet Tracker
    1x Constellation Aquila
    1x Starfarer
    1x Crucible
    1x Orion

Edit: forgot I sold my Banu.

My ships are outdated on Cei's roster. Sometime ago I was shamelessly offered some RSI bucks that meant I could buy back a package at less than half the quoted price. So I need to add a Carrack, Terrapin, Super Hornet & Dragonfly.

Yeah it's way out of date - my 890J is actually a Polaris...

I've played the current game and tbh it's actually shaping up. Sure, it has taken absolutely bloody ages, and far longer than I ever thought, to even to get to this state, but I can see what they're going for and more importantly, finally some damn progress. I do feel CIG have wasted quite large amounts of cash on reworking assets constantly though (ie: develop a ship, realise that your goal posts have moved and re-do the entire design...multiple times).

However most importantly, the ships fly well and performance is no longer in the ditch. Balance and all that is going to be relatively quick.

Just noticed you all have a Star Citizen group. Are you all active and playing, or still waiting for the game to be released? I am looking for a few others to group up with.

At the moment I mostly jump on to fly around and do the odd mission once every few weeks, usually on a Saturday afternoon.
As long as it's not a D&D night (usually Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday), I'm happy to jump on in the evening to squad up - my in-game name is Surren Starr if you want to add me.

Just tried installing SC on my Kubuntu partition, using Lutris.
Install went smooth as, and a quick 5min test gave 45fps flying around Port Olisar!

    EDIT: Screeny added.

EDIT 2: Youtube added of my potato flying skills.

Star Citizen 3.5 moved from Evocati to PTU wave 1 at around 9pm Saturday night (GMT).

This means that the NDA on revealing 3.5 content has ended, and Youtube is now full of Area 18 walkthroughs & female character creation.
Not mentioned by CIG, the 300i, Mustang & Cyclone can now accept colour schemes from their variants.

Caveat - Arriving at Area18 is a bit "Hotel California", as ship terminals are not yet working, nor are trading consoles or new mission giver Tecia "Twitch" Pacheco.

PTU has further opened to wave 2 (The most active players), and should go live this week.

EDIT: That should read "opened to ALL backers".
