When you'll presumably have (or want) to buy a new modem again? :p

You’re most certainly correct. I can’t wait to get it hooked up. :D

Too many clever people in that last page I don’t really need to reply!

2x1GbE interfaces doesn’t mean 2Gbps throughput as there’s no such thing as Ethernet bonding only Ethernet aggregation. Packets are load balanced between the interfaces in the aggregation group.

DOCSIS3.1 I believe supports an MTU of 2000 if your ISP enables it but when your £8 Chinese manufacturer giveaway CPE router is nailed to 1500 on Ethernet and Wi-fi - which has its own overheads in the encrypted frames anyway - that really isn’t going to help you. I’m not even sure that the pro-Sumer stuff actually supports increasing your Ethernet MTU and I’m not sure even enterprise stuff supports Wi-fi MTU as then it breaks WPA2.

No the only real way you’re going to benefit from multi gig to your cable modem is if the cable modem is like the Virgin super modem and is actually a router in itself in which case directly cables devices could each pull 1Gbps or you have tengig in the modem router and LAN. Which is currently cost prohibitive.

Got a few new bits that I've been thinking about this past month:

2x LSI 9220-8i Cards (flashed to IT mode for NAS / VM server)
    Canon M50 14-45 & 55-200mm kit
    Canon M to EF adapter
    Screen Protector
and 3 USB sticks as all my old dependable 'pc repair' type sticks all have the USB part bending in various positions so figured I'll swap before they snap :)

Just on the look out for a bargain on a Canon 50mm f1.8 now to finish it off - then I must stop spending lol

I agree with the cost prohibitive portion... I picked up this modem for $110 new and it’s pretty much one of the best on the market as of right now. It’ll do, for now. :D

Finding gems like this on warehouse deals helps with the cost-prohibitive bit...

I don't actually need it right now, but couldn't not pick it up for that price.

Led Strip with battery pack, not going to have issues seeing my rod while night fishing if it's lit like a mofo christmas tree.

ASUS XG32VQ - ordered it yesterday afternoon and it arrived this morning. Gotta love Prime.

Generally, I'm not enamoured with Asus products, but I do like this screen.
The panel is gorgeous, the curve feels just right, the adjustment options are mind boggling and I love the little OSD joystick.

Downside: the stand is so big and cumbersome, the monitor sits about 300mm from the wall, minimum. Thankfully, IDGAF about the stand and I have a much more compact stand in the spares cupboard, which halves that distance.

I gave my 3007 WFP to Sprog1 last year. Sprog2 is "making do" with a 2410, but may inherit my Acer 1440p monitor.
