If the main reason to buy this is instead of an instinct card then that's AMD shooting off it's own foot as they've just released a card that looses them much higher margin sales. That said I think there will be so few of these things that it won't matter. Imo with the all the build up and fancy unboxing stuff it's just been a huge marketing exercise reminding people AMD still exist at the high end. I don't think AMD are actually looking to sell many of the cards.

They've probably taken away some of the lower end of the professional market but I'm not sure how many low end professionals (no offense intended) would be willing to spend whatever a MI50 costs (what do they cost?) and they probably don't have much need for PCIe 4.0 or FP64.

A heads-up for anyone (Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?) with a Radeon VII and wondering why they can't see anything during boot anymore: the cards shipped without a UEFI driver so unless for some reason you;re still running with CSM turned on, you get no output until the OS has booted. ASRock have started rolling out firmware updates to their cards, so those will likely become available for all cards eventually.

How on earth did reviewers miss that?
AMD shipping press editions that are functionally different?

What with rumours Navi may be delayed to Q4 (rumours mind) the AMD Radeon section really has to pull its socks up to keep up with the CPU arm of the company.
