In two days I go back to the flat for a few days. Waiting there for me (in my inbox) will be my Metro key. I will have three days to play :D

I should really start with the Metro series... 2033 is sitting on my Steam account, but I have yet to start it. The book was a lot of fun so now I feel prepared.

I strongly urge playing the Redux version. Also if you don't like 2033 then skip to Last Light because it was a much better game.

I got kind of bored at what I sense was around 1/2 way into 2033 and never touched it again. I didn't not like it, I just never got the urge to pick it up and play it - more like a "well, I had better play this since I started it", until I didn't

Would I be rewarded by dusting it off and resuming with Last Light?

Totally. 2033 was very Stalker like imo. It was the best looking game of its time, but gameplay was a bit meh.

Last Light fixed all of that. Wait until you get your companion before giving up, as it was what made it so special. Also know that ammo is there but only if you leave no dark corner unexplored, and filters will sometimes run low but again, will be there for you. It's all a part of the mechanics.

But yes Last Light was a proper game whereas 2033 was more of a GPU benchmark. I did go back to 2033 Redux but it was still far too hard for me.

Hm, the Redux would cost me moneys, the non-Redux I got for free a while ago. Might have to do a quick duckduck to check the differences.

I haven't played Last Light through yet, and nor have I played the Redux versions of either (got both), but I class 2033 as one of my favourite gaming experiences ever, in part because my brother was there for the whole thing, but in general I don't like zombie/post apocalyptic stuff, don't like horror etc, but I felt 2033 was great, had a tension that felt very real, didn't rely on many jump scares, had whole portions without enemies (not that you knew it) etc.

Would highly recommend giving it another go :) (redux version adds in some bits from last light to improve things, like an actual stealth kill move I think)

Last Light is very tense. It also very cleverly alternates between dark, claustrophobic and tense and then exploration .

Nice blatant advert for your first post. Don't think we'll be seeing you around here after today.... Enjoy doing other people's homework for them pal. It'll keep you off Bit-Tech, that's for sure.

I was expecting the Mod to delete my post too, otherwise it makes no sense. Might as well clean the thread up at the same time.
