Thanks guys. Next Wednesday and the following 11 workdays will be radiation sessions. Keep those fingers crossed, please? I can write letters to your bosses to excuse you from work, if you need one. ;)

Keep us posted mate, default mode for fingers is crossed.

You can tell your mum that random people on the internet wish her well too if you like :)

Not been around much but will be thinking of you. I hope you get your wish. Sadly my father passed away in 1981, but I did get my mother for much longer thankfully. We threw a big party for her and her twin on her 70th and I bought her a 50" TV. God you should have seen her face when the courier rocked up to the door with an enormous box. She was out of her chair like lightning, saying "I didn't order it go away !". Then I said "It's yours you silly old cow" and she just burst into tears. It was truly wonderful.

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you dude.

Our stupid dog chewed my headphones cable. She did it in such a way you wouldn't notice until you used them. The left side is dead :(

I guess it is my fault for leaving them out, need to buy some new ones now that sound good and aren't crazy expensive. RIP to my Sony MDR-XB950AP

At that price I would be looking to get them repaired.

She's chewed them right on the cable where the inline microphone goes, there is nowhere I can cut the cable and re solder it back into place otherwise I would.

I meant buy a new cable and solder it to the cans themselves. Like, do it properly. Having looked closer though? yeah, nice one for using a flat cable, Sony. With all that said....

Not sure how your soldering skills are. You'd lose the mic prolly, but hey at least it wouldn't be a total loss. At least you could still using them for music.

Thats a good shout actually. I could cope without the mic. I'll see if I can get my Dad to fix them, being an amateur radio enthusiast and ex service engineer he's a dab hand with a soldering iron, me well not so much.

Cut the cord out and use the holes to install mono 3.5mm jacks. Then use a stereo 3.5mm to dual mono 3.5mm cable and they plug into each can. Very handy when you jump up and forget you have headphones on. They just pull out.

That's a reason I like my Bose QC25s (bought for flying). The cable has a jack at both ends, 4-contact 2.5mm at the cans & 3.5 for the device. I may change the cable out for a USB-C version now I've changed phones.

Nvidia's Ray Tracing Gems book arrived. Thought it'd make a nice coffee table book, given it's a hardcover and it looks nice and is about a decently random and generally lesser understood topic for Joe Average. Well, this here ain't no hardcover. It's a bloody paperback for over 50 Euros! The ISBN is correct, though, so I asked the publisher for comment. Right now I'm not happy.

The good lady was around the other house today, took up the laminate in the kitchen - concrete floor underneath is covered in damp.

That'll be monies then, I presume it needs a good clean up, skimming over and a damp proof membrane (?).... I ain't having the whole thing dug up.

    Blumming expensive things houses...

The good news is the builder starts Monday on the outside before moving in, so there's that at least.

Rising damp, or condensation? Worth getting an opinion on that before splashing out on a membrane you might not need.

We had a damp report before we bought it, the guy actually said if it was him he'd just move in and warm it up :)

Tthe damp she found is actually on the concrete floor, not the walls. Whether it's just risen through the concrete and got trapped, they's moved out of the house about a year before we bought it so it may all have just loitered there.

Think we'll have a chat with the damp specialist we had first... :/
