    Hi all,

I have a Gigabyte B85TN thin ITX board for a project and am looking for some suggestions for a good quality 19v PSU (laptop type). It needs to have connector dimensions of 7.4 x 5.1mm and will be running 24/7.

It will be driving a 35w CPU, a couple of SO-DIMM RAM sticks, a small mSATA drive, a single 92mm fan and four 3.5" hard drives - I am assuming that 150w would be enough?

I have been searching but I am getting lost in the noise that is PSU listings and need a recommendation for a good quality unit that will not blow up in my face.

    Can anyone suggest something suitable?

How about HP P/N: 681059-001? It's a 180w PSU from an all in one so it should give you some headroom and I think it has the right barrel type. I used a 120w version from a smaller HP AIO for my thin ITX PC back when ebay had those £16 boards. Here's a used but genuine one for £30.

Thanks for that but I was hoping to get a new one from a trusted source - I already have a Dell 130w brick that fits but it is old and I need this project rig to be running 24/7 so a new one I think is better.

There are loads available on the net but I don't know who to trust to source one for a reasonable price, I've heard many horror stories about cheap PSU's.

So @Fingers66 , I can get you HP P/N: 849653-004 which is another 180w HP unit (that I think is 89% efficient?) for just shy of £60 delivered to you with a bit of lead time unfortunately, about 10-14 days. I've also found a 120w unit, P/N: 906329-001 but that's nearer £70 for some reason but is available within a few days. If you need even more power, a 230w HP unit, P/N: 693706-001 is £135 but also available in a few days.

I've also had a look for Dell PSUs:

    130w - VJCH5 - £75 - 7-10 days
    150w - J408P - £85 - 10-14 days
    180w - DW5G3 - £95 - 3-5 days

Sorry mate, probably much more expensive than you were expecting but these are 100% genuine PSUs. If you find any other PSU P/Ns during your research feel free to ping them my way and i'll get you costs on them :)
