    Thanks Mate,

Timespy run was good too, scoring 6112 stock. Getting some thermal throttling so may need a new case. :D

It's full of junk already, but hopefully will be getting timber for the work bench soon.

Treated myself (not new, not paying those prices!!):

Now if only Gigabyte would upload the new bios revision for my X570 board so I can actually test Destiny 2 on it!

Also managed to snag the following on Ebay at a not stupid price:

Picked up a 3960x and some DDR3 ram from my local CeX (with cash discount, nice!) and combined it with an old Crucial SSD in my "Retro" tower.

Extra bonus is that Windows 10 activated itself so there was already a key assigned, double nice! :D

Silverstone FT03B Mini ITX case - ebay
Asus Z170i Pro Gaming motherboard - ebay
    Silverstone SX-500G PSU - ebay
Noctua NF-A14 PWM Chromax fan - Scan
    Corsair H55 - Scan
    Corsair MP510 480GB M.2 - Scan

As I already had a CPU, RAM and a GTX 750Ti Cheesecake doing nothing, I thought I would build an ITX rig as I was bored. The FT03 Mini case is beautiful, the Noctua fan is much quieter than the stock Silverstone AP140, although the PSU is SFX-L so I can't fit the HDD/SSD tray (not that it is needed) - on the lookout for a normal SFX PSU for a bargain price.

Bonus for the copy of Windows 10 Pro tied to the motherboard, that was a pleasant surprise.

    Not good.
Tastes like somebody spat out a couple of cherry flavoured Tunes throat sweets into a bottle of amaretto along with a handful of pennies.

One of the first motherboards I blew up here at bit. How much did you get it for? Been looking for decent motherboards for a overclocking bench

Z170/270/370 can be decent as you can get multiple generations working on some of them (have used my Z170M OCF with 6700k/7700k/8700k/9900k), otherwise 775 is good fun and chips are obviously nice and cheap nowadays.
Know less about the AMD side of things so can't really recommend anything there.

    Just a cheapy Ryzen build.

    2600 £111
    16GB Crucial 2666Mhz £50
    Gigabyte B450 DS3H £62

A serious amount of grunt for £223!

Don't think I am even going to bother clocking it  Well except the ram is running at 3000mhz

Running Coffee Lake on Skylake boards? I'd heard about this sorcery but not seen it confirmed.
Is it serious bios hacking? Any hardware mods involved? Z chipsets only?
So many questions and ignorance on my part!
