    i know its not part of the package but did you try ALVR and virtual desktop and try steam vr games and rift games?

    I'm confused. Is this a standalone platform? Could I use this to play existing PC games in VR?

    Unofficially, yes, but then it's not standalone any more.

    WARNING to all potential outdoor VR players: direct sunlight kills VR displays.
    The same lenses that focus a near display so it appears to be at a greater distance form your eyes will also focus distant objects (like the sun) to a point on the display panel, cooking pixels in mere moments.

    Big screen are bringing a streaming platform for TV programs so will be able to use the Oculus Rift for both gaming and TV, although not much specific programming for VR at the moment, this will get better in the future hopefully
