Very rarely do luxury items get properly taxed/tariffed. If not out right excluded there be a loop hole that only the wealthy can exploit (e.g. only taxed when imported commercially, taxed exempt when imported for personal use). The moneyed families won't support politicians who cut them off from their pleasures.

He only said wine because he has no idea what else France might export.

 

Looks like the tango man has threatened that if the UK don't drop their digital service tax their not going to get a trade deal, seems a bit disproportionate but i guess friends really do come in handy.

 

There was never going to be a substantial trade deal any way unless we signed up to extremely unfavourable conditions, so empty threat is empty.
