Displays Computer randomly drops display

I have two displays connected to the desktop. The Dell monitor is connected by HDMI and the TV is connected with a DP to HDMI adapter. The TV is seen as the primary display. After waking from sleep, sometimes the Dell monitor doesn't connect and displays no signal. If I turn on the TV it displays correctly.

Unplugging the HDMI/DP does not detect the monitor and a restart is required.

More recently, when I turn on the tv (second display), Chrom will display black. I can open other windows fine but need to restart Chrome.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing these problems?
I didn't have these issues with my last monitor.

 

If the Dell monitor has a DP, connect it with a decent quality DP cable and just use a straight HDMI cable to connect the TV.

This will help you rule out cable and port issues.

 

I wish it has a DP port. It has a single HDMI and USB-C
That's why if use a DP to HDMI adapter for the TV which it never drops.
I wish I could set the Dell as the primary display but it seems it isn't possible for reasons.

 

What's the model number of the Dell?

Try a DP to USB-C cable from Amazon? If it doesn't solve the issue, return it?
