Nothing that would be worth it. You'd have to check with Asus, but I believe with a bios update you might be able to run an i9 9900K.

What is it that you do that requires more cpu power?

mehh no idea I do gaming if that means anything

just with birthday coming up soon I thought I would try & get a upgrade that I can't otherwise afford

only thing I could see was another i7 but a 8086K starts at 4.00GHz turbos to 5.00GHz so faster starting off then mine & faster then mine when it turbos with same amount of threads & cores

i9 have more threads & cores but are slower at there starting/regular speed

just wondering what other ideas people have for CPU

    Why?
What do you use your PC for, unlikely upgrading the cpu will lead to any benefit for a lot of applications.

You can just overclock if you want some extra mhz.

8700k is still one of the best gaming CPUs you can get. You probably wouldn't even notice the difference with something else (8/9 series).

Yep, for gaming there is almost no reason at all to upgrade from an 8700K.
Same foes for mainboard and Ram, just not much of a point to it.

For gaming the focus with upgrades is mostly on the GPU and Monitor.

GPU's are more expensive then the CPU I currenttly have a 1080TI

what is better from Nvidia & AMD that is a reasonable/decent upgrade ? or should I just get another 1080TI & run in SLI ?

Are you having issues with performance?

Upgrading hw for the sake of it is a waste of time/money (in my opinion) I'd far rather look to upgrade speakers/monitor/keyboard/mouse/desk/chair etc.
Much bigger impact than going from a 8700k/1080ti to anything.

Asus TUFF Z370 Pro gaming motherboard
    i7 8700k
    32 gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz
    MSI 1080 Ti

I am eyeing up a possible replacement for my secondary monitor which would be more of a sensible choice curently it is a ASUS VN247 does 1920x1080 HD would love it if I can get a matching screen thats the same as my primary one Acer Predator XB281HK 4K Ultra HD

I still wouldn't mind a second 1080 TI for SLI but I guess I would get told I don't need it or there is not much point

You will. 1080Ti will massively benefit a few games, make no difference to most, and hurt frame rates in a few others. All whilst adding ~200W to the power draw of your PC.

so nothing worth me upgrading to yet so far

so a new monitor to replace my second one would seem most sensible so far

anything from AMD that is better then a 1080 TI ?

Yeah I'd leave the box alone, and as I said look at interaction devices (mouse, keyboard, speakers, desk, chair etc) all make much more of a difference than a new gpu anyway in my opinion.

Mechanical keyboard, headset, mouse, dual monitor mount, chair, backlighting, case, new CPU cooler, case fans, VR... Anything would be better than a CPU or second 1080 Ti.
