Hi guys, I've just booted my new build for the first time to install Windows... As soon as I boot up I got a cpu fan warning, I checked everything so rebooted the system and now get a cpu over temperature warning.... Any ideas guys, I switched off straight away..the H115i is plugged into the aio connection on the motherboard, thanks guys... Asus rog maximus xi hero Corsair H115i I7 9700k 16gb g skill trident z 3200mhz Thanks guys
Oh sorry its a corsair h115i bud, thanks, it's plugged into the aio cooler connection on the motherboard thanks
Have you double checked you removed the plastic film on the heatsink? I'd refit the heatsink anyway. Also check that that particular header is running at full speed.
I took the h115 out of another system buddy, how do i check to see if its running at full speed matey, fans are running on the radiator, can't tell if the pump is running but all connections are connected, thanks
You should be able to feel a vibration when you touch the pump/heatsink.I assune you've used the correct mounting fittings? Did you redo the TIM? Have you got an air cooler you could try?
Think I've found the problem bud... This don't look right mate, the pump was on as tight as it can go.... Thanks
Everything is attached bud, they are the shorter standoffs, the others are AMD and another set are taller than the ones I'm using, thanks
Is the cooler underside actually flat and not distorted a little? I've never had a Corsair AIO and have no idea what the build quality is like.
There are only three possibilities here: 1) It's not fitted to the standoffs correctly. B) The standoffs aren't fitted to the board correctly. iii) They're the wrong standoffs.
I would go with wrong standoffs bud, becouse it was fitted to an x299 motherboard, I had to sauce a backplate and standoffs, I got the backplate off a nice chap on bit tech, the standoffs I got from my own collection of corsair aio parts, other standoffs are AMD.. And another type of standoff which are longer, I chose the shorter standoffs....saying that could they still be the wrong standoffs, the pump seems solid when fastened down, no play whatsoever, thanks matey
There's no play because the cooler is nicely attached to the standoffs which are nicely attached to the backplate... There's just a gap between the cooler and the CPU. I'd look at replacing the standoffs and possibly backplate - or just pick up a new cooler so you're not relying on a Frankenstein hodgepodge of bits from hither and nither.
