My above 7 posts show that a correctly overclocked 3800x can give the 9900k a run for its money. That the 3800x could be as fast if not faster than many 9900k builds with all core 5GHz overclocks and decent of the shelf RAM kits. This is if you understand the weakness the 3800x has and why AMD recommends tightening RAM timings. The chiplet design increases RAM latency by 10ns. With the 3800x, overclocking is about fixing some of the bad RAM latency. Latency can be reduced from 75ns to 63-64ns average. The CPU itself is already fast enough. Overclocking is about the RAM on the 3800x.
