That whooshing noise is the collective sigh of relief of developers everywhere who no longer face the prospect of being stuck with coding for multiple NUMA domains for desktop/workstation use.

It is a great upgrade on both the platform and the chip, a proper next generation, so much want! unfortunately not enough need :( :D

Would have been interesting to see core boost scaling with processor thread load

I've got absolutely no use for so many cores but i can't help thinking Phwoar when looking at these, i imagine if you've got a use for so many cores these are a boon.

Is that a smug little chuckle I can hear from a certain Dr. Su? Well deserved, Lisa.

I don't think they would, they may want to game when they're not using it for work though.

Because you buy nice hardware to work on but when not working its playtime.

    Barbaric. Absolutely barbaric.

The mind boggles at what the 64 core will be capable of.

    So is the price tag:

    3900x + mobo + ram approx £1k
    Intel HEDT + mobo + ram = £1.5 - £2k
32 Core Ripper? Cpu + mobo + ram approx £3k....

I don't begrudge the prices at all. They're far cheaper than when we were under Intel's rule. You know? The same Intel charging £185 for a unlocked 2c 4t I3 before Ryzen came along.

If you actually need all those cores on a regular basis then yes the price is fine, but for the majority it just makes more sense to buy a "puny" CPU instead and spend the difference on a 2080TI or a couple SSDs.

Indeed. At least AMD have launched these CPUs. It's amazing how many Intel ES I've had that were never launched. Simply because Intel couldn't be arsed and didn't want to push things on quickly.

Yeah the prices are crazy. But, so is the performance if you need it :)

OC3D has a couple up, IIRC GN has a couple up, and IIRC Guru3d said their would be up in the next day or so... one assumes Bit will be in the next day or so also.

"If you're not sure whether or not you need HEDT then you don't need it" somebody said. And was completely correct.

Personally I have absolutely ZERO need for TR but damn I want one.
