Next season ought to be a belter (pun absolutely intended), judging by a) the book, and b) the way it's been set up in S4.

I was working on ripping and transcoding the Christmas haul of movies and TV for Plex when I foolishly deleted the wrong folder deleting the mkv files. Recovery software could see the files but was unable to recover the data. The movies are a minor irritation but the TV is frustrating, the episodes came of the disk in a jumbled order. *sigh*

Seems my girlfriends mother has (Most likely) cancer of the liver and oesophagus.

Annnd there's a very real possibility she's going to rely on prayer and "alternative" therapy instead of the ol' tried and tested chemo. Because she'll most likely be thinking she has to trust her imaginary friends, like she does with everything else. Which, I think, is going to cause more issues (Read: Arguments between said girlfriend and said mother) than the actual cancer. So that'll be ... Something.

Sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed she'll understand modern medicine is capable of better help than "her friends".

@liratheal Sorry to hear that mate. Hopefully, as @perplekks45 says she'll rely on more than just crossed fingers.

My best mate's mum is very religious too, fortunately when she got cancer she opted for treatment and is clear now.

Even if somebody is really religious surely they should be able to reason that these professionals and treatments are blessings, not temptations to be avoided. I must admit I find it hard to understand.

Anyway, strength to you and yours.

But, it's their decision. What I find extremely hard to understand is a how some people can allow their religious beliefs to prevent essential treatment for their children.

Yeah, I'm hoping the oncologist talks sense into her. We'll see. Might not even be as bad as it seems at the moment, it's it's only scans that have shown masses. It's pretty certain but might get lucky.

Fortunately she's not that far gone in the God Botherer route.

In addition to the above. I'm at some German new year's affair watching something from what appears to be the 1960's. With some butler serving some mental old bird and tripping over a lion rug.

What have I done wrong with my life.

That's a traditional thing. They show it every NYE in Germany and Austria.

I thought the very same the first NYE i spent in Austria years ago at the good lady's dad's.

It feels like the precursor to carry on films. But worse. They're all laughing and saying 'its british' like that makes it make sense

To be fair, it's comedy genius.

Every bit as funny as an adult as it was a child, regardless of what language you speak.

Yup and most non-Brits are surprised when you say you have no idea what it is.

    Funny old world.

I grew up with that and this is the first NYE I've not watched it once. A streak of 35 years come to an end.

Decided over the Xmas period to build the rig into a new chassis as well as overhaul the visual styling of it to match it's new chassis. Current sata cables aren't going to work in new case due to component layout so sod it, get some new ones to fit and match visually along with new PSU cable extensions

    Order dispatched: delivery date 17th - 27th Jan 2020.

    ****.

Can't decide if I should just buy some to tie me over or try wait 2+ sodding weeks.

I want to go play golf. I want to go to the cinema. I want to take a pristine example of a historic case and chop it to smithereens. I want to go to dinner with my partner. I want to be able to wear jeans. I want to be able to play with my nephews properly. I want to be able to stand or walk for more than 10 minutes. I want to be somewhere else, doing ****ing anything, just not sat here doing **** all, for what seems like forever.
