It's been a long time, but the 1080 is fired up and I should hit the first lowly milestone of 15mil later today.
Good stuff. I'm lucky enough to have been able to do some serious folding in the second half of 2019, and will continue to contribute as much as possible in 2020. However, I am going to have to downscale the operation a bit over the coming months so that I can take the family on holiday a bit later in the year. Therefore I'll be offloading some of my hardware. I'd like to give first dibs (and preferential pricing) to anyone on the team who wishes to bolster their output. I haven't quite decided how I'll do this yet, but I'd imagine I'll be able to offer entire standalone rigs that can simply be plugged in and fold 24/7. Alternatively, I'll break them down and sell the components separately. If anyone reading has any interest then drop a post in here and we'll have an open discussion in a new thread. It would be nice if we can maintain our output as much as possible, I'm mindful that I'm currently producing about 40% of the team's daily points! Happy folding for 2020!
I'll be interested. I'm going to set up my 1060 in a separate rig but if I can get something beefier then that'll be great!
There'll be choices between 1080Ti, Titan X Pascal, 2060, 2070 or 2070 Supers, so once you have a budget in mind we'll have a chat.
Marginally worse on the 2060, roughly the same on the 2070, better on the 2070 Super/2080 and over twice as much on the 2080 Ti. The Titan X is on par with a 2070 Super most of the time.
On the verge of just tipping 50M at somepoint today. Think might have to look into a dedicated rig and another gpu.
Congratulations to Shirty who today demotes me from my short lived time in the top 10. It was great while it lasted! An excellent performance with some outstanding equipment which puts my 2x1070's and 2x970's in the bracket of 'steady eddie'! Perhaps I should change my user name.... Also well done to DocJonz who I saw passed the 10bn mark. Shirty, if you are serious about selling a working rig later in the year, let me know.
Just passed 2 billion, whoo! If any folders are interested in a 2060, 2070, 2070 Super, Titan X (Pascal) or a 1080Ti with an epic Alphacool 240mm AIO installed, preferably to keep on folding, let me know. I also have various motherboard/CPU/RAM combos, quality PSUs and cases full of fans I'd be willing to consider shifting. If any of this moistens your undergarments, drop me a PM with your rough requirements and budget and we'll see if we can work something out with a fresh thread in the marketplace (to keep things transparent).
If you want to take a rig "as-is" so that you can just pump your details into the client and start folding, your options are: MATX Rig - Approx 2.75M ppd at present Palit RTX 2060 StormX MSI RTX 2070 Aero Asus Maximus V Gene Z77 i5-3350P 2 x 2GB DDR3-1333 Kingston A400 240GB SSD Corsair TX750M Gold PSU Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (v. 1903) Thermaltake Versa H17 - Black ITX Rig 1 - Approx 1.5M ppd at present Zotac 1080Ti Mini (w/ Alphacool GPX Pro 240mm AIO) MSI B75IA-E33 i3-3220 1 x 4GB DDR3-1600 Kingston A400 240GB SSD Corsair VS450 PSU Windows10 Pro 64-bit (v. 1903) Fractal Design Core 500 - Black ITX Rig 2 - Approx 1.9M ppd at present Nvidia Titan X Pascal Gigabyte AB350N-Gaming WiFi AMD Ryzen 3 1200 1 x 4GB DDR4-2400 Crucial MX200 500GB SSD Seasonic Focus+ Gold 550FX PSU Windows10 Pro 64-bit (v. 1909) Fractal Design Node 304 - Black If you have any interest in any of these do let me know, there will be more to follow EDIT: There is also the option to "rent out" any of my folding gear. I'm not looking to make much (if any) money out of such a deal, as long as my electricity costs are covered. That way I'd be dealing with the space, heat, noise and risk of hardware failure, whilst you pay for the leccy and enjoy the points, fame and girls.
For anyone interested in piggybacking on any of these rigs, having crunched some numbers, I'd calculate the monthly running costs of the three rigs above (in order) as follows: £47/month £35/month £37.50/month My methodology is simple, I calculate the average draw from the wall for each rig as 400, 300 and 320 respectively. I then worked out the kWh usage for 24 hours, multiplied by 0.16 (my kWh cost), multiplied by 365 and divided by 12. I rounded to the nearest 50p, which gives a round number. Sound about right? It'd be great to keep the points in the team at no risk to any of you, I'm not wedded to having all the points against my name at all.
If I had the cash I'd purchase, so may think about renting. If you were to sell, what would you be looking for?
I had around £500 in mind, though I haven't costed it up properly. If it were to be used exclusively for folding for at least 6 months there'd be a generous community discount in order as well
Just for one week. Trying out Google Cloud, they offer $300 free credit, V100 runs in about $1.78 per hour.
