I was thinking an MX Master 3 in the normal MX Master 3 colour.

I won a lucky dip last time I lotteried. Does that count?

I lived with a high wattage setup with not enough radiator for a while, never doing it again. I'm always conflicted with it all now, top end chips are yuuge and ridiculously power hungry. Current rig has a fat 480mm, probably going with 2 rads for the next one I think.

240 per item for me. Probably still overkill because I don't oc the CPU any more but yeah that's usually enough for me.

No gold and glitter? I'm not sure that's right for people with sudden influxes of cash.

I mean.. I guess it does, but I suppose an argument could be made for it depending on how much you won.

I sure hope you drink your coffee with your pinky out when you do.

Or tea, if you drink that.

I'd start doing Youtube reviews for the hell of it! Because why not at that stage! I'd just update my current system, as I love the case and cooling serup, but with far better fans and metal tubing!

I think we got away with it because the 120 was so thick, so was like having a 30mm thick 240 and the 240 was mid thickness. If both had been 30mm thick i think it would have struggled, or at least i i would have had to crank the fans up.

I'd probably still pick and put together the parts myself, but would be very tempted to offer one of the highly skilled modders a nice sum of money to design and build me the most beautiful case imaginable for my new machine.

Like Maki, more tools. Also a big workshop and a machine order big enough that Axminster would have to send a lorry. Oh, and I would build my own flash pc.

With a significant-enough win, I would absolutely put together a £100k NAS for funsies.

Not matching cheese-grater screens? I'd absolutely have a couple of those, though with the VESA mount and a desk arm.

    Principles?

I get that if you consider a part-for-part comparison (as much as you can anyway) it seems expensive to DIY under certain circumstances, but then when isn't an assembled and supported system more expensive than a pile of miscellaneous parts? Isn't that the whole question this thread is asking?

Well, of course... What else would you put in your gigantic workshop in a quiet place in the mountains?

Just part of the challenge. :D It gives you more reasons to add wheels and stuff too.

I'd like to add to my earlier comment. I'd probably find a Carbon Fiber shop to have stuff made. That stuff is tricky.

I would almost certainly also be paying Open reach (or someone else) an obscene amount of money to provide 1 Gb synchronous internet to my abode of choice. I have zero use cases for it but i would neeeed it.
